The lady friend put an offer on a condo Saturday. It's in the end of town she wanted, has enough space, good school district, etc. The only issues with it are the kitchen is a little smaller than she wanted and the decor is going to need to be updated over time. All things considered, that's pretty good, and she's looked at enough houses to know she's doing well with the choice.
She looked at it the first time in November. In January, they raised the price a little which was odd since it's been on the market a while. In her offer, she offered the price it was when she first looked at it plus the seller pay closing. They had until Monday night to respond. They kind of half responded without an official offer. Since then, she's gotten how they're gonna respond tomorrow basically every day. It's getting really stressful for her because she's here for the next few weeks before starting her new assignment which will have her out of town all week. Closing on a house and/or doing all the things you have to do with a new house (paint/cleaning/appliance delivery/etc) will be super hard if she's out of town. To compound this, the assignment will take her out of the country in mid May. This means she will likely be unable to get another house found, offered and closed before that, so she'll have to wait until July before buying a house. She is staying at her parents temporarily, but they're selling their house in May when her mom retires. This means she'll have to move all her stuff into storage and find someone who is willing to let her crash until she finds a house. Needless to say, that's not an ideal situation. I just wish this people would get their stuff together so she can know if this deal is gonna work.

Buying a house is the craziest experience. And I've discovered even when it goes smooth, it's not smooth. And you will never close on your first closing date.
You know what's annoying? When you submit an application for an internship with a huge, international company, that pays $30/hour (yes, for an INTERNSHIP) and the phone interview is going amazingly well, and then she reads off your graduation date (which is clearly stated on my resume) and realizes that I don't qualify because I graduate in may and they only take "enrolled" students.
Like, why did you even call me then? Shouldn't you have noticed that PRIOR to starting this interview? Why even get my hopes up like that?! Then the courtesy "I'll still submit you to proceed to the next round of interviews, but they may not want to continue the process because we typically only work with current students." Then ends the interview abruptly. Like, I know you're not going to continue with my application, why draw it out?!

Ugh.
I really feel fer you on that aspect! Havin' gone to a "technical" school fer audio/video production no places would take me as an intern because I couldn't get "college credit." Goddamit I just want the experience that could have led to a job related to my education! There is a small part of me that has wanted to watch the world burn over the last few years...but nooo...I have to be a fuckin' (jaded and cynical) optimist.

We are moving offices next week. Today is packing day for me. I'm exhausted. (But I'm relatively close to finishing, and hopefully, I'll be posting in the Yay thread from my new office next week because I love having a new office, and I won't be right across the hall from my current, very chatty office neighbor anymore!)
I want to thank everyone who reached out and commented here regarding my mom. It's been stressful, and she's going into surgery today. Trying to stay positive about it.
I feel I'm tryin' real hard right now. And I'm a fairly private person I guess. But fuck all, I'm givin' myself alcohol poisonin' tonight (no not really, but fuckin' A I'm drinkin' more than I should).

Things don't look good. She's going to be in the icu for another 6 weeks at least. Septic bacteria ate holes in her lungs and diaphragm, and her surgeons admitted it was much worse than they expected. I don't know what I'd do if I lost her. Jesus Christ I'm stressed the fuck out.

I am so sorry. I wish there was something I could do to make you feel better. Sending you and your Mom my love and all the healing power I have.

Gotta find someone who you can get out whatever has been eating at you. They may not be able to give you a solution, but I've found just the act of sharing it helps. Also, I tend to find new perspectives on issues just by saying it out loud.

Hate to hear that. Thinking about you and your fam today...keep us updated.
Thanks, and no I got that picture from mycathatesyou.com. Here is a picture of her.
Oh what a pretty face! <3 I hope the shots make her feel a lot better. You're a great kitty parent.
Thanks, she is a pretty kitty. And thanks for saying I am a good kitty parent. Both me and my wife take care of her but she is way better at giving the medicine then I am.

So the landlord saga comes to full circle and is about to explode. Just got a check for $480; less than half of my deposit. She is charging me $150 for lawn care, which her boyfriend's company cut two and a half weeks after my last day, talk about a conflict of interest. $150 for carpet cleaning on a receipt that was obviously edited from $70 to $150. A fire extinguisher ($39) that was never in the apartment, broken towel rack ($20) that was broken when I moved in and for 12 light bulbs ($36) which I am not paying for fucking light bulbs, besides the fact that there were NO lightbulbs when I moved in. I sent the list, receipts and a copy of the check to a lawyer friend.
I don't want to go to fucking court, but you are not going to nickel and dime for shit that you did over 2 weeks after I moved out when you refused to do a walk-through with me. Oh and there was some mysterious cabinet that was supposedly mounted on the wall that I took which she charged me $100 for. Fuck that. I am so mad about this again. I just want what is owed to me. Like seriously, I was a good tenant. I cleaned the house, I made sure to call when shit was broken, I lived with termites for MONTHS that she never took care of, AND had a leaking roof. So annoying.
