How someone says it DOES make a difference, but it always seems a little inflammatory to me. "Buddy", "pal", etc... just seem unnecessarily provocative to me.
I went to college with my now-ex-husband and there was a guy who thought pretty highly of himself in the ass-kicking dept in our class that called everybody buddy and it used to just drive Tim nuts. He also said "Let me put it this way" before just about everything that came out of his mouth. I have horrible flashbacks whenever I hear anyone say it now.

Biglou is anal about being on time too. So when we have to be somewhere, say at 8:00, he'll tell me we have to be there at 7 or 7:30, and not tell me it's really at 8. So usually he's kicking me out the door whether I'm ready or not. But if he's not there, I'm screwed.

I wear bandanas to work pretty much every day. On the random days that I don't wear one, I hate it when people say "Oohhh you look so good!" or "Your hair looks good like that!"
To me, it's like saying "you look like crap every other day of the year". I hate compliments when all I did was NOT wear a bandana. My hair looks exactly the same underneath.
I hate hate hate being called "honey" or "sweetie" unless it is by an elderly person (when that happens I just have to take it as a term of endearment)
i have a pet peeve thats been bothering me alot lately. when world news spends 90 percent of the time talking about nonsense. i dont watch cnn to hear about lindsay lohanss drug habits or britney spears hair. or a bunch of shit about elvis. larry king belongs on the E! channel!!! 6 dudes trapped in a mine isnt world news either!!! its sad. it sucks. but we dont need to see some billionaire mine owner ramble on for hours on cnn. there are wars and earthquakes and shit going on. and even things worht mentioning like the bridge collapse are overdone. they just show a pic of the damn thing and say the same things over and over for hours and hours. just move on and come back when there is something new to say damnit. update it every half hour. just dont sit on the same non moving shot saying the same damn thing over and over!!!!! and lose the i reports! im sick of seeing slightly differnt shots of the same thing and then having to listen to some random person with a cell phone talk about their grandma or their job for 3 minutes!
ok im done with my news rant. but damn that stuff irritates me!!!!!!!
I hear you about the news; especially come summer it seems they only report on CRAP. I watch BBC, they realize there are real events happening on this planet outside of Britney's screwed-up life.
I hate the sweetie thing too and I have a good friend who does it. She's one of those sugary people, came out the womb that way. However give her a few beers and she swears like a sailor. Too bad she went back to being a Mormon...
I call everyone "dude." I guess that isn't too professional. I said it to my boss today. "Dude, that is ridiculous!" when she told me about a psycho client. I'm 32... kinda need to watch my language in the workplace...
How about this one - when someone says to you very condescendingly after asking you to do something for them (keeping in mind - they are not in a supervisory position - they are equal)

"Do you think you can handle that?"
I'd tell them to do it themselves then I'd go play on the internet.
I had a boss once that would ask me to do something, then immediately say, "Nevermind. I can do it faster." She was such a bitch. I'm glad they went out of business.

Insomnia you say? I'm with you on that one. That is part of why I drink so much.
Though I didn't spend much time with my father when I was growing up, I do remember how he couldn't EVER sleep more than an hour at a time (and he drank ALOT). I've always been horrified by the prospect of developing his full-blown malady.

My corn connection is virtually nonexistant, so drinking is my only real option. (roolacksreality does subsidize my jones from time to time) I'd much prefer the herbal remedy, but it's just not much of an option right now. So, now i'm a fat insomniac. That sh!t just ain't right.

one for me is, part of the Few Hip-Hop albums i own, when trying to be organized in my itunes and ipod instead of just one artist on an album, it lists like 12 different artists because every song features at least one other person. grr
She needs help with almost everything these days and I'm more than willing to do it (even though it means I have sacrificed EVERTHING for over a year to do so)
Is it to much to f*cking ask that i get some kind of warning before she wants something. This is our last conversation....
mom: what are you doing? me: killing time until I found out what was going on over there mom: Carol (her sister) is spending the night me: Oh good (because then I don't have to) mom: we want you to go get us dinner from Olive Garden me: OK, I'll plan on getting there around 6:00 (it's 4:45 now) mom: Oh, I don't want to wait that long me: but that's only an hour and 15 minutes mom: but I'm huuuuuungry me: OK I'll be there in a few minutes.
first off, Carol has a car second, I talked to her 2 hours ago and she said nothing about dinner third, Olive Garden is a 30 minute drive
So now I have to drop everything to go get them dinner. I swear, no matter the circumstances your mother can still drive you insane.

Our building's garage has 4 seperate security gates. We never go more than a week or so without one or more of them being broken. Currently, 3 out of the 4 are broken. 2 (on 1 side of our building) have been stuck in the closed position for almost a week. (which is extra fun considering the ammount of 1 way roads that surround us) 1 is stuck in the open position, making all of the residents feel truly "secure". By the time they get around to fixing them, the other will (WITHOUT QUESTION) be broken. This sh!t is getting VERY old!

Similar to the 'shower curtain floating onto the leg' from someone's post earlier, I have always hated getting a little bit wet....like when you're running to the car and you have to get in and be all sticky-like

I hate hate hate when the toilet paper runs out on a roll, and instead of taking the old one off and replacing it with a new one, people just leave it there and get out a new roll...and leave it on the counter. It only takes about 10 seconds to change people! I think it's more of a guy thing, too...I notice a lot more males doing it.
