I torrent... a lot. I take a lot of pics that's what I'd store.
So far I'm looking at the Western Digital one that looks like a book 250 gigs is just because of price, I'll get as much as I can afford.
Two questions then - how much space do you currently have (and how quickly have you filled it) and how much can you afford? I just found a WD 500 gig for $125.
If you're not tied to WD, I've had good luck with LaCie. I found a 500 of theirs for just under $110. Or a 320 gig for $88.

Personally I've found it's best (with the way my little mind works) to create a 'to burn' folder. Then when I find myself with some extra time I just knock them all out.
If you can afford it I'd go with the 500 gig. You could even break it out into different volumes and make one a back up of your pc (always good to have, and since you'll have an external drive there's no reason not to). The simple fact is, you can never have too much space.

I recommend checking www.bensbargains.net on a daily basis for the best deals on stuff like that. I don't recommend buying hardware from a brick and mortar store because of all the great deals that can be found online.
