Even though I will have been home for a week, I am going to make a trek to Asheville to see Phil and Friends at the Civic Center. I really, really enjoyed his set at the Roo. It was great to see Joan Osborne with him. She looked and sounded amazing. I've heard that Trey will be joining in on the Asheville show despite the website. I'm gonna relive the Roo in a few short days. Woot woot!

I'm seeing Al Green here in Detroit tomorrow. It's gonna be so wierd being at a show that isn't Bonnaroo. The crowds will be completely different and I'm not looking forward them.
I'm hitting the Bauhaus/Nine Inch Nails show at Pine Knob (or, the venue-formerly-known-as-Pine-Knob for the younger set), with 2 of the 3 cats I 'Roo'ed with this year. There's going to be some culture shock, I think.
I'm hitting up the Phil and Friends show in Bethel NY. Should be a fun afternoon with Phil, Mike, Trey, and the Duo. It will be cool to see a show on the original Woodstock grounds too.
I was so worried after my first Roo that all non-Roo concert performances would be ruined for me from this point forward. Fortunately, this has not been so. Saw Wilco at the Pageant in March and the crowd was very Roo-like.
It's impossible not to compare. And some things just haven't held up.
The Independence Day Jam (Oklahoma City): Green Lemon & The Ills, Michael Kang of String Cheese Incident, Taj Mahal Trio, Keller Williams, Bob Weir & Ratdog
This should make up for being at Roo on his Father's Day.

Yea I don't really know about the crowd at "Pine Knob" anymore. Since it changed to DTE its really went downhill. It seems like a lot of the shows are just filled with yuppie teens whos parents are season ticket holders and they just go to all the events regardless of what artist it is. That and the security has gone on a ridiculous power trip.
I stopped in Charlotte, NC before I even got home to see Dave Matthews Band and ALO. I was worried being the day after Roo it wouldn't be good. I'm glad to say it was a great show. The best dave show I've seen and I saw him both times at Roo.
then I get Dave again up north in 2 weeks, and Umphree's McGee and Galactic at the House of Blues in Atlantic City.. then ALO again! this is such a great summer. I'd like to see Phil and Friends again but I don't think I'll make it.

Honestly, now that I'm back from this show, one of the things that stuck out most to me last night was how many Oakland County sherriff's deputies I saw there. The only complaint I have about security is the guy at the gate totally mangled my box of cigarettes trying to find the joint I didn't have hidden in there (fscking amateurs). The crowd was as chill as any NIN crowd could possibly be. A little beer spillage here and there, and the occasional violation of blanket etiquette...
The joke of the night in our group - "who's got my heady black lipstick?!" I spotted one Bonnaroo shirt - a boot, couldn't tell which year it was, but if I had to guess I'd say this one.
realized that I don't have concrete plans to attend another show until Umphrey's in September...don't know if I'll actually be able to go that long.

My fiance got us tickets to see GRAB in Cleveland on July 19th (this is my birthday present, my birthday's the 13th).
I was riding in the car and she was like "what do you wanna do for your birthday?" and I said " I dont know, maybe I can get us down to Cleveland to see trey, mike and the duo" and she replies "Oh, you dont have to worry I bought you tickets for your birthday".
