I went and saw Prince in Vegas friday night and all I have to say is he is one badass motherfucker!! If Superfly and AC ever booked him to play Bonnaroo I would crap myself!
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed Fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio." -Hunter S. Thompson
Badly want to see MM, its been since 05 for me, but they never come to Michigan and I dont have funds to drive out of state (with Bonnaroo taking my $$$ handily every year)

I just bought a ticket to see Buckcherry later this month. Not many people here may be fans of this band but I'm just excited about feeling like I'm 14 again.
moe @ highline ballroom, nyc last night. very good show, solid jams...however, since i didn't get to hear like any of the songs i was hoping for, i'm heading out again tonight in hope of grabbing a ticket at the door ;D
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

Got my tickets for a pretty strange Cinco de Mayo concert in Tucson. Main Stage: Bad Company & Molly Hatchet Theatre Stage: Drive-by Truckers (doing their only electric set this tour) and Alejandro Escovedo 3rd stage: the Zsa Zsas and Molehill Orchestra
Oh, and it's during a Biker rally so there'll be about a few thousand bikers roming Downtown for the show. Should be interesting.

Saw Megadeth and Heaven and Hell. Metal isn't really my thing, but the tickets were only 10 bucks. However, it was so badass to see Tony Iommi.
And, after we left, outside of the venue this bar had a band playing. We heard Led Zeppelin playing, so we decided to check it out. Turns out it was a Classic Rock cover band. Best cover of Black Magic Woman, the song was 10 minutes longer than it should.
Going to see The Greyboy All-Stars next week and then Animal Liberation Orchestra the week after. Then the week after that on Memorial Day Weekend I am going to the Atlanta Jazz festival to go see Herbie Hancock for free.

Just saw The Wailers last night at Sundown in the City in knoxville. They did some of the classics and some unknown stuff that will be on their new record, I was pleasantly satisfied with the free concert, however the police presence always puts a damper on the vibe.

A lot of people post, "I am going to see" type things but never come back and talk about it, please wait and just post after the show so we can read how the show was. Thanks!
Hot Buttered Rum were excellent tonight. You can tell they eat up that Colorado energy -- love 'em here. I saw them back on the night before NYE and I was a fuc*ing wreck, so I'm glad I got a bit of redemption.
Talk about a collective bunch of musicians/vocalists/collaboration masters. So god*amned fun.

Arcade Fire tonight, and I'm beyond excited. I'm tryin to figure out a way to sneak my dvd cam in and not get thrown out for taping songs. It's a tough call, but I feel it's my duty

Hey Brotha!! going to the show tonite too! should be good times...
Well check it. I did get my camera in (there was no security at the door at all), and I got some great videos. I'm in the process of uploading now so I'll continue to edit this as I get them on Youtube.
Unbelievable show. Everything that everyones says about them being an amazing live band is completely true. They didn't play Wake Up or Neighborhood 1, and the show was a little short, but what R U gonna do? Everything they did play was just spot on. Antichrist Television Blues was probably my favorite of the night. Just pure amazingness all around. Now on to the videos........

Thanks Danbird!
Well I'm back from The Bad Plus. I hadn't realized how awesome a gig this would be. A little fibbing got me and the wife student tickets for $7 a piece. The theatre was a fabulous room with nice acoustics and a great sound system. It was intimate. The trio came on and played a solid 90 minute set. They were so tight and focused. Now for the surprise: it was a CD release party, with a meet and greet after the show! So I picked up a copy of the new album and got it signed and got to chat with the guys a bit. The whole evening was so great, I can't believe it only cost us $14.
Here's the setlist, replete with new tunes and trademark covers:
Mint Anthem for the Earnest The Empire Strikes Backwards Everybody Wants To Rule the World (Tears for Fears) Bill Loves To Dance Big Eater Old Money Giant Tom Sawyer (Rush) Physical Cities encore: Life on Mars? (Daivd Bowie)

So the wife and I took in Molly Hatchet and Bad Company at a biker rally in Downtown Tucson on Cinco de Mayo. It was the worst show we have ever been to, and we had a great time.
we actually caught a really great band before the other 2 went on at the Club Congress across the street: The Bel Rays. A hard rocking combo with a kick-ass female soul singer. she had a serious Tina Turner thing going on, belting out tunes with a presence that made you stand up and pay attention. Totally unexpected and a nice surprise.
Molly Hatchet; Well, they didn't not rock, but it was sorta sad to see these paunchy guys roll trough butt-rock tunes while periodicly dedicating songs to various veterans. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I actually knew some Molly Hatchet songs.
After the hatchet we went over to the Rialto theatre and caught a bit of the Drive-by Truckers. It was their only electric set of their current tour, and unfortunatly the sound guy at the venue made em sound like sh!t. It was seriously unberable, and we soon left to go across the street and chek out the Molehill Orkestra. They're a 7-piece gypsy rock band that includes a chello, mandolin, accordian and trombone/euphonium. Very fun, dancable music. Kinda sound like they should have been on the Borat soundtrack.
Bad Co. was aweful. I think its just the singer and maybe the rhythm guitarist from the origional lineup. Played non-radio songs for the first 1/2 hour. Things got better when the went into rock and roll fantasy and Feel like Making Love (w/ a random tease of "Take a walk on the wild side.") we saw so many trashed middle-age bikers falling all over themselves. It was hilarious, but after an hour we were singin "Feel like Goin home."

Saw Love as Laughter, Man Man, and Modest Mouse last night. Love as Laughter was mediocre, but Man Man was incredible. But, they weren't outdone by MM. They put on one hell of a show, and jammed it out incredibly. I've never dance so hard at a show. We were right up front, and we could actually see Isaac's saliva flying from his mouth when he would sing like a madman.
It was a 3 our drive from Houston to Austin, but definetly worth it!

The Bellrays are opening for Clutch right now on their tour. And they opened for them on a couple of tours back. They put on a great show.
Last night I saw The Greyboy All-Stars at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. Truly a rocking concert! There was alot of guest artists coming in and jamming with the band which was awesome.
After the concert was over, none of the stage hands were handing out the set-lists. So I took it upon myself to jump on stage after the show and snag one. Got the whole band to sign it after the show. The weird thing is that the entire band was behind this one small merchandise table in Variety and only about ten of us were actually waiting for autographs, everyone else just bolted out of there. Odd.
Hopefully I can catch Animal Liberation Orchestra next week at the 5 Spot in Little 5 Points, and the weekend after catch Herbie Hancock at the Atlanta Jazz festival.

I saw Galactic and Cypress Hill last night at the Southern Comfort festival. Galactic blew me away! The are definitely one of my "must see" Roo artists now!
In 2 weeks I get to see Herbie Hancock at the Atlanta Jazz Festival. (outside, jazz, FREE!)
Claypool on June 13th at The Variety Playhouse (A GREAT venue), then BONNAROO!
Damn oatmeal, I wanted to go to the SOCO festival, but I am too young to go to it. I wanted to see Galactic so damn bad, but it doesn't matter, they are my must see at Bonnaroo. I am glad to hear you thought they kicked ass.
But yes, the Atlanta Jazz festival will kick ass, I mean its Herbie Hancock FOR FREE! You can not simply beat that anywhere.
