I regret being 18 in 2002 and not being prepared enough for that experience as I am now. I love live music, and that first Bonnaroo taught me that. It was a catalyst for a lot of self-analysis, so I don't regret that. But I wish that I had been able-minded enough to fully encompass how special that festival was. I don't remember it that well. 2002 was a crazy year, and though I'll always remember my first bonnaroo/festival/family atmosphere experience, but I regret not taking it all in back then when I was living in it.
But I'm thankful for the todays; it gives us new chances. Don't you love chances?
2004: I regret forgetting that we filled a water bottle with vodka early in the morning while we were drinking beer. When I decided to chug some water to sober up a little bit in the afternoon, it backfired and I made it back to Centeroo halfway through Primus!!!
in 04' it was not wearing sunscreen and not having any shade or enough food & water ending up with 2nd degree burns...had to leave on sunday afternoon before Trey who I wanted to see badly. 05' I ate some fungus and ended up freaking out in the front of the line to see Jim Breuer who was hilarious i was told. Also ended up in a car @ the end of the night for 3 hours by myself and couldn't figure out the child saftey lock...yeah i was f**ked up. 06' not seeing Matt Costa
I regret not being able to pace my self so well. I hardly remeber Umpreys last year and then left and missed all the other great shows because of it. Then the next night I missed the superjam and all those late shows. Need to pace myself better and I should be golden.
Also maybe better shade then our makeshift canopy and also missing Nickel Creek last year which I can excuse because we camped out and got GREAT seats for Oysterhead.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
2005 was my first year and I went with a group of people to include my Girlfriend. We were in the never ending line Thursday morning waiting to get in and decided to get out of the car and stretch our legs and begin the party.
Well, I mixed myself a drink and one of my buddies and my girlfriend decided to walk next to the car for a bit. Wrong Idea, a huge break in the line put both of them about a mile and a half behind us. No one thought anything wrong with it because we figured they would catch up eventually.
Well my girlfriend didnt have any shoes on and as they neared the camper began jogging, so think of this, bare feet on the Manchester Tennessee Blacktop, which was about 110 degrees, needless to say the skin on the bottom of her feet literally melted and for the first day and a half I had to carry her around, or talk the med guys into driving us in there golf carts.
BUT... and there's always a but, we didn't let it ruin our trip, we partied and enjoyed our surroundings until the minute we left. But did agree that shoes were required next time! ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

during tom petty me and my friend mark were sitting on chairs we brought in and really really enjoying the show. eventually mark got the mucnhies and sighted a ben and jerry's stand right next to us litterally like one chair over. he went to get some ice cream and i didn't see mark for literally 25 minutes. apperantly he soemhow got lost on the way back, even thoguh it was ltierally a 10 second walk. the really weird thing is he eventually found his way back in a crowd that large

'04 Didn't pace myself well and slept through a large portion of The Dead; Got involved in some unprecedented business, the effect of which put a real kibbash on my ability to travel from my tent to the What Stage for Dave and Friends, drank two gallons of orange juice, reemerged for Vida Blue
'06 Overwhelmed by the quality of Radiohead and frankly, too old and exhausted, passed out in my tent and missed Superjam/Dr. John; Didn't meet up with you folks; Missed half of Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks
'07 Right now it looks like I might not make it; I'm going to Langerado and Lolla this year (and potentially Vegoose), but limited time off makes it tough for me to go every year (aiming for every other); I'll miss it, but I'll still be around to discuss it and anticipate the shows with the rest of you

I followed my (stupid) friend back to the campsite to drink beer and missed most of Ben Folds as a result, and missed Oysterhead while looking for rolls with other friends. I learned pretty quickly that I didn't pay $200 for a ticket to drink beer, and spent all of Sunday in Centeroo. Especially when I figured out that water recycler trailer and started refilling my water bottle regularly. Forget what other people want, pay attention to the music!
In 2004, I missed most of sunday because I was hanging out with some people I met. I only got to catch the last song of the David Byrne set and a few MMW songs then went back to camp with them when it started to get cloudy and spent the rest of the night chilling with them. We eventually walked over to see Trey, but the last song ended right when we got to the arch. I learned my lesson and decided that next time I went I was going to put music first.
The only real regret I have from last year is missing most of GRAB, especially when Phil sat in. However, I was watching The Night Tripper and got to catch the last 1/4 of the GRAB set so I feel it was somewhat of a fair trade-off.

After the Radiohead show when the huge jam(traffic not music) happened we got caught in the crowd and found the easiest way to get away was to go to the campsite. Everybody with me fell asleep and I missed that night. I had been debating ever since the schedule came out of who I would see that night and I didnt see any of it. Awful!

I totally regret missing out on the late night Praxis show. We wandered back to camp (one of only 2 years we haven't been in bfe) to eat and rest-up during whomever the headliner was that night (dave & friends maybe) - the wife and I both fell asleep. I remember waking up at like 3:30 am and feeling like I had slept through christmas.

I really regret bailing after Umphreys instead of sticking around for Bisco. I was kind of tired, my friends were really tired, and we had a 40 minute walk back to camp, I now wish I sucked it up and stayed.

Yeah camping in bfe can really screw with your roo. You either have to plan on being gone from your camp all day, or you must be willing to sacrifice music. We missed out on widespread the first night first year because we were just too gassed and wanted to rest before the late night fun.
it stands for bum fuk egypt, just means the middle of nowhere. no tent only is right up close to centeroo. a 2 minute walk tops. we were way way way out there. past the church and through like another mile of camps and through some trees and down a hill.. it sucked. but we made the best of it and usually drank a case of beer on the walk down.

Man I've been in bfe 3 out of 5 years. The bfe I'm referring to is down the path to right of the vip camping - in years past there had been 1 - 2 disco balls hanging from the trees. And as for what we'd done to deserve it - I have no idea, it didn't seem warranted, especially the 2nd and 3rd times.

thats right thing to do(drinking a case of beer) you had to make it part of the experience by using that time walking to and from bfe to party and meet people
