i'm a free lance photographer, will i have any trouble getting my camera gear in? also, can anyone point me in the direction of credentials? who to ask, how easy/hard is one to get, etc?
If you wanna do some professional photos youll wanna have a press pass or something go to the website where it says Contact and e mail them, wont hurt to ask. I dont think they allow those long lenses for up close shots, if they see you with it that is. But their cool with photography and video.
slaterson let me know how it goes as far as if you can get a press pass or not and if it costs extra I am a photographer myself and would love to be able to take some of my equipment with me.

They are very iffy about photography. That is, the more high-end your camera is the more heat you should expect to get. My wife is a photographer and she brought her Nikon digital SLR camera last year with a decent lens, not even a zoom lens. Once when we were entering Centeroo a security chick gave her beef about it, saying she couldn't bring it in, citcing the fact that the lens was removeable (WTF??). We were able to sneak the camera in, and didn't have much trouble outside of that, but then again we weren't tring to bring in zooms or flashes or anything like that.
3 years ago the KOA wristbands were an identical color to the Press Passes. We underutilized this opportunity but DID spend some time drinking free beer and doing a few party favors in the press tent after the Dead - If we had been smarter we could have lounged in their during the torrential downpour.
Now that I think about it we did score much free beer from the tent on several occasions. My buddy watched the Deads press conference too.
i got word from the bonnaroo folks that freelance photographers will not be given _any_ photo credentials. you must be shooting for a hard copy publication, they are even restricting web only publications. bummer.
any hard copy publications need a photographer? i'd be happy to shoot for you at very reasonable rates.
