According to yesterday's Wall Street Journal, Coachella is on its way to its first sellout (100,000 tix so far) in it's nine-year history "thanks largely to the Rage (Against The Machine) reunion." Apparently tix have sold three times as fast this year. (Does anyone else find that remarkable?)

i'm not that surprised, a ratm reuinion is huge, what i'm surprised about is bonnaroo delaying the line-up they might loose some sales for people who can only afford one fest and are afraid cochella is gonna sell out, me, i wouldn't miss roo for the world.
i think roo needs to get someone huge in order to sell out this year, like the police and dylan and the dead or soemthign to that effect
Yeah, I believe the three separate days and popularity of single day tickets is kind of deceiving as far as how big the crowd really is. I'm sure the Rage day, much like the Radiohead day a couple years back, is going to be packed to the gills, while the other days will be more reasonable.
I love RATM, but if Superfly had booked them, it would forever take away whatever peaceful/hippy vibe Bonnaroo has.
There are probably no leaks because last year two of their three headliners got leaked way early. They are probably just trying to keep the lid on it - keep in mind the RATM/Coachella rumors didn't really come out until the week before.

Even when it was rumored about a week before the announcement I don't think many people expected it to actually happen. Coachella managed to keep their headliners completely leak free really until they chose to announce them (up until the last day everyone was still positive The Police would headline). It just shows that it can and has been done and Bonnaroo probably has the same, if not more, secrecy surrounding their bands (compare the 5 or so confirmed Bonnaroo bands so far to the dozen or so Coachella leaks in the weeks leading up to their announcement)

Yeah, that year the Sunday was alot less packed with the Cure headlining. I think that the one day passes for the Radiohead day sold out that year and last year for the day with Madonna.
Man, that is horribly inappropriate...but I think it would be awesome to have them playing some little tent somewhere really late at night. Almost nobody would really want to go see them, but how weird would it be to go from jamfests and Bob Dylan and drum circles to just full-on Cannibal Corpse? Like instantly being in another world. And those kids thought The Mars Volta was too intense for the chocolates...

I've said it before, but GWAR would be a great latenight band! Yeah, they're cheesy and over-the-top, but that's the whole idea. I've seen them before and they really go all-out! I think it would be a lot of fun.

I would probably put them way back there in The Other Tent, because they would most likely harsh someone's mellow, but otherwise, they should really do that. I know they probably never will, but a boy can dream.
The only "if" factor is some poor uneducated soul wandering into that cacophanous spectacle by mistake. Ouch.

No kidding. The insane level of secrecy this year plus the longer than previous years time line before announcing the lineup makes me hopeful for a "beyond our wildest dreams" lineup. Of course I am setting myself up to be let down.
If you want to change it, I have a new thread over in Troo Music Lounge simply titled "GWAR." It is properly spelled and true to subject (so far). Nobody likes it.
