Open Containers of Alcohol in an RV while driving

I would think that would be asking for trouble, legal or not. You do not want to give the po po any reason to hassle you. And they will be looking, trust me.

Here's the skinny on open containers in TN:
It's a harsh law and you can be damn skippy that they'll be enforcing it over roo weekend.
Even one beer missing out of a pack is an open container. This means if you have 5 beers left out of a 6 pack, and all of the remaining 5 are closed, that counts as an open container.
Keep this in mind especially as you are leaving the farm.

TN passed a new open container law which goes in effect July 1 that bans any open container in the passenger area.

"Passenger area would include the driver's and passenger's seats and any area that is readily accessible to the driver and the passengers, including, but not limited to, the glove compartment."

Of course this law is already in effect in most TN cities and counties. As for what areas of an RV are considered "passenger areas", that is unclear but most likely the entire vehicle since the driver has easy access to those areas.

I'm also coming outta NJ, in an RV, and am sure the local police are all well aware of Bonnaroo, and are going to generally go fishing, randomly pulling people over, and shake some folks up, and see what falls out. Things that would normally get let off w/a warning are gonna warrant an expensive ticket. I bet if I were in an RV full of good ole boys heading out on a fishing trip in May, or a family on route to Dollywood, no one would give a rat's tail if the legal passengers were enjoying a cocktail, or two. But an RV heading towards Bonnaroo is probably easy money....you can only hope that, like fish, there's safety in numbers, and you don't get pulled over...or make sure you have ZERO open containers...put your drink in a McDonalds cup at a rest stop, and launch the empty cans there...if you get pulled over, the passengers can easily dump 'em down the sink....I'd rather lose $3 dollars in beer, than get a ticket for $250.....
