thanks, I was excited about that one for sure. I have Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables on vinyl, which is really all I thought I needed, but I'd forgotten "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" was on In God We Trust Inc. I saw that and knew I had to have it.
The only one I have is Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death, but I'd take any of them!
I had just came to this board and to this thread to rave about Post Pop Depression Live on vinyl. I highly recommend it. It sounds fantastic. I did have to clean the vinyl good first (static) but it sounds excellent in quality. I think it was just released this month.
I think I might try to get those three separately (same releases but without the totes).
Kept my vinyl purchases to a minimum this past week, with last week being RSD and this weekend there's a comic convention on Saturday and then a record convention on Sunday. However, I couldn't pass this one up:
Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden (original promo pressing... for $5 at Manifest here in town, which surprised me because they mostly get in 70s and 80s pop records that no one wants any more in terms of used stuff)
First of all, I hate whoever decided to have the comic convention and the record fair on the same weekend here in town. However, I had a good time at both shows, but since these two were on the same weekend, I had to severely budget myself for both events. So, you can bet your ass I was being careful with how much I was paying for whatever. If I would have allowed myself more of a budget, I'd be adding a The Mars Volta "Amputechture" vinyl to my following list (it was $50, don't know if that's a decision that will come back to bite me in the future, but I'm happy with my choices). Anyway, here's what I picked up today:
Butthole Surfers - Hairway To Steven (original) Depeche Mode - 101 (original US Sire) Van Morrison - Tupelo Honey (original US) Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention - We're Only In It For The Money (original US, beautiful copy!) Brian Eno - Before and After Science (1981 Editions EG) Skinny Puppy - Tormentor/Bark/Nature's Revenge 12" single (blue vinyl... I caught a peripheral view of the colors on this record when a guy beside me was going through a crate and I nearly had a heart attack thinking it was an actual "Too Dark Park" record, which is insanely rare and is over $100 anywhere you look online. Either way, this is a very rare single, too, and it features some great mixes not on the album as well as the underrated "Bark" b-side. Super psyched for this one!)
I only spent about an hour in there looking, as it was insanely hot and humid in there and there was next to no room to look through everything. If I actually were able to look through everything like I wanted, I would have easily spent hours upon hours in there... this should have been a two day event. I went to every vendor and flat out asked if they had any industrial... needless to say, that genre was way underrepresented at this show. I found a Coil "Horse Rotorvator" vinyl for $60, a Ministry "Twitch" for $25, and a Cabaret Voltaire "Drinking Gasoline" for $30, but had to pass on them due to price. A few vendors mentioned having some Throbbing Gristle, but they were all bought up in the first hour of the show.
I don't believe there are any Moodymann fans in here, but his vinyl is hard to find, and is never reissued. A few months ago, Peacefrog reissued Mahogany Brown, and it sold out where it was available fairly quickly. Today - Juno, Piccadilly, and Phonica put more up for sale. PRAISE BEJEBUS BECAUSE I'VE BEEN WAITING OVER A DECADE ON THIS DAMN RELEASE. Good Times.
There is a blue vinyl edition, too, but it is sold out almost everywhere.
I snagged the boxed edition. I don't buy too much new vinyl but I know Radiohead will do a great job with this. Looking forward to hearing the remaster and comparing to the original.
Just got a BSR XL-1400 on the cheap for the in between, only to take it home, hook it up, and find that the records are playing too fast. It's an automatic 33/45, but it's clearly too fast. Gonna take it back tomorrow morning and get a refund, probably going to end up spending a little more and get an Audio Technica LP60. I can't make it a week without listening to my records, I'll go mad.
I was up in Portsmouth NH yesterday so I swung into Bull Moose.
Got three Prince 12" singles (Pop Life, Let's Pretend We're Married, Raspberry Beret), the RSD 7" of The Zombies' "A Rose for Emily" (b/w This Will Be Our Year), and Pharoah Sanders' Karma
Got an Audio Technica LP60 today for a decent price from my favorite record store after a punch card discount. So far, pretty satisfied with it, but I already want to save up for an upgrade and put this in another room. Also picked these up over the last week:
Busta Rhymes - Woo-Hah! 12" single Q-Tip - Vivrant Thing 12" single Van Morrison - Veedon Fleece Moby - Feeling So Real Remixes Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
Edit: Oh, and Tangerine Dream - Stratosphere... as well, I should be getting Chrome "Blood On The Moon" in the mail today.
