so we are to believe that after all this time of no 100% leaks this year that out of the blue "insider" knows the headliners, is willing to basically tell us who two of them are outright, tells us all the people saturdays headliner isnt, but wont just outright tell us who it is or anyone else on the lineup?
playing into this game, it could be roger waters or paul mccartney. also phish and daft punk have not been mentioned. but i think it will have to be dmb and special guests, as well as kol as a shared timeslot headliner. otherwise we are completely going backwards here. how is KoL, with the success of 2009 and all, bigger than the beastie boys? and even though i think dmb is better than phish and more commercially successful, phish's followers are pretty freaking hardcore
I dont even care about my own tastes, I just like for Bonnaroo to show some imagination and live up to the fact that they are the biggest festival in America!
Bruce/Phish/Beasties (completely unique set of headliners) Pearl Jam/Metallica/WSP (Wont find this at many other fests, maybe Jazzfest) The Police/Tool/WSP (pretty original) Radiohead/Petty/Phil (awesome)
now......
Kol/Dmb feels like it's been done about 30 times, and was done last year twice at Austin City Limits and NOLA Jazz Festival. It's just really uninspired.
However.......despite knowing about Bruce and Phish last year, the rest of the top tier of the lineup (Beastie Boys, Nine Inch Nails, David Byrne, Wilco, Erykah Badu) were pretty much a complete surprise to me. So i'm figuring the 4-10 spots will be just as big this year. They're gonna have to be.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

yea, for some reason if he comes out says who the sat. headliner is, i'm going to believe it. don't even know why. those of us in the know already knew about kol and dmb (and stevie wonder also being on the list) from a post from about a month ago. so he didn't really bring us anything there. but i believe he was right about last year, so i'm going to trust him.

KOL and DMB would suck but if we get Arcade Fire, Pixies or Pavement I could live with it.
none of those would headline bonnaroo. the biggest difference between coachella and bonnaroo is coachella will book "cool" bands to headline, they will book bands with an underground type of following, especially if they are just reuniting. bonnaroo sticks more with proven big time draws and people that sell tons of albums.
As long as I don't have to endure Phish taking a precious headliner spot with their "We should actually be running gas stations" anthems, I will be on the farm.

Well, I think "r" was saying more that if the headliners were KOL and DMB, but the undercard included Arcade Fire, Pixies, and Pavement, he'd be cool with it.
But your statement, Sangreal, indicates exactly what's wrong with the thinking over at Bonnaroo/Superfly. There is something to be said for not just jumping all over "flavor of the month" type acts (something which Coachella tends to do - some of the indie/electronic groups they book are never heard from again), but at the same time, you've gotta take some chances. I suppose Bonnaroo does that for their undercard, but it would be nice to see at the top of the lineup as well.
I guess we'll have to wait and see at this point, but right now it's not looking good for a unique top line of the poster.

yea you're right. but hey, whatever works i guess? i was discussing with a friend once and i said it seems like bonnaroo and the other fests just lets coachella have their thing and don't really mess with it. the other fests pretty much allow coachella to corner the market on rare acts. i guess because they all want to have their own thing. like bonnaroo's thing started as jam bands and has grown to include bluegrass, world music, jazz, etc.
fri.-stevie wonder(6-8), kings of leon (9-11), string cheese incident (11-3 which) sat.-neil young (6-8), the who(9-11:30), soundgarden (midnight-2 which) sun.-furthur (6-8), dave matthews band (9-12), my morning jacket (6:45-8:45 which)
I now have confirmation of Headliners for Fri, Sat and Sun from Superfly....this post is the closest I've seen to the real thing - I will tell you that you got one of the Fri night headliners correct and one of the Sun night headliners correct. You completely missed the Sat niht headliner.
what makes sangreal's mock the closest you've seen to the real thing if the ONLY things right out of all 9 bands listed is kol on friday and dmb on sunday? people have been saying that was the case for weeks now. how many of his other 7 bands listed are also correct?

If Bonnaroo didn't try and get rare acts that would be a big fail on their part. Why would you let a festival corner the market on one of the big ways a festival is worth going to, to see something you can't see anywhere else?

well like i said, bonnaroo has their things that they get that other fests don't get. also it's not bonnaroo's fault that a bunch of copycat fests came up after them booking the same types of bands.
Wait why do you all believe Insider again? I just take it as common sense not to believe someone that has only 8 posts but thats just me. I do think KOL will be there but I am really doubting DMB will be there. Like everyone has said KOL & DMB were two headliners at two fests last year. I dont see Roo trying to have sloppy seconds for two of their headliners. If KOL & DMB were two of Roos headliner then they would have to pull something huge like a Mccartney or Rolling Stones to move tickets. Im willing to bet that if the headliners were KOL/Jay Z/DMB that this would be the lowest attended Roo yet.

I really hope we get someone better than Jay Z for Saturday. It has to be a giant if KOL (dear god that I don't believe in, please don't let this happen) and DMB (and I love them) are fri and sunday headliners.
I won't get too worked up about what Insider has said, but it's going to be gnawing in the pleasure center of my brain until Feb 2nd.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good
He was correct about things last year. So I personally listen when he says he has a scoop... but as with all things on this board, I take all information with a grain of salt.
Was Insider the one claiming that Jay Z was going to be added last year or am I thinking of someone else?
EDIT: Nevermind just checked, I was thinking of someone else. Checking through his posts he was right about one thing that could have easily been an educated guess so I dont see him as the best source. Maybe I just dont want to believe him so im trying to find ways to discredit him.
I seem to remember a guy who correctly predicted Metallica two years ago coming on the boards last year and predicting Jane's Addiction was going to play...
Sometimes people get lucky. Sometimes people's sources dry up.

Look, what I know is Friday headliner, 2 Sat headliners and Sun headliners - already told you Fri and Sun. The only reason I'm not coming out and telling you Sat is I'm a little scared of who reads this board and them figuring out who I am.
A lot of you have been correct about the main Sat headliner and from what you are saying it is a disappointment to many of you. I think what you have to realize is that a band, for the most part, has to be touring to do Roo - it is a lot for a band to bring together a whole crew and road show for one gig like this in the middle of nowhere.
Anyway, we all know the best of Roo is not the headliners anyway!

To be honest I didn't read that far back, so he was only the closest recent post. One of the other acts he mentioned is lined up for Sat.
2/5- Papadosio 3/3- MUSE 3/12- John Mayer 3/19- The Werks 3/31- Passion Pit 4/18- Ben Folds 4/20- Against Me! 6/10- Bonnaroo 6/30- Eric Clapton and Roger Daltrey

I think that was Bonnaroo Detective. He hasn't been around these parts in a while. Though, I thought perhaps DJJD gave him a twitter shoutout ("And I will be going north tomorrow, with flowers in my hair for those up that way. Listening BD?" 9:27 AM Jan 14th).
