I REALLY don't want the Rolling Stones to headline, but for some reason I have that feeling it could happen this year. Despite my preferences, they're really a perfect fit for the Saturday night headlining slot.

Looks like I was wrong sorry. I was talking to someone about Radiohead possibly for next year, and that came up. There is just something that fits too well about the Rolling Stones for them not to be at Bonnaroo next year. Anyone see this: pitchfork.com/news/36393-jack-white-and-keith-richards-working-together-on-new-songs It means nothing, but a guy can fantasize can't he?
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
Jack White has made stellar appearances with the White Stripes and the Racs. I'd love to see him there with The Dead Weather, even though they would most likely go to which stage.
Rolling Stones Red Hot Chili Peppers Muse Levon Helm Black Crowes Norah Jones SCI Monsters Of Folk Arctic Monkeys Yo La Tengo Avett Brothers Swell Season Built to Spill Basement Jaxx Umphreys McGee Robert Randolph Lupe Fiasco STS9 Little Boots Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
are all semi likely at this point with a couple prime long shots being White Stripes, Daft Punk, and The Dead.

This is a Headliner Speculation Thread.
Which would leave STS9 Umph Robert Lupe and about 5 more on your list OFF

Yea, it's become the default thread for next year pretty much, which just adds to the best thread I've ever created. Twenty Five pages without any leads and before Fall is pretty good for Inforoo.

i too would love to see U2 headline next year... but i seriously doubt that it would happen... U2 puts on such a massive and expensive show, that idk if they could make it work on the what stage
^^I don't think that necessarily disqualifies them, though. I would say that What Stage is bigger than a lot of the arenas they play on a typical tour. That stage could potentially hold an audience of close to 100,000 people, which is at least as big as the biggest football stadiums in the country. Besides, there have been lots of artists with expensive and complicated stage shows in the past, and I think Superfly would be nuts not to try their best to accommodate such a major draw as U2.
IF the Dead Weather played next year they would have a late night tent. But they won't play.
I doubt they'd be late night in a tent - I think they would close out Which Stage or pre-headline What Stage. But, bigger names have performed in the tents before, so who knows. I agree that they probably won't play next year, though.

Well as big as the what stage is, and the field where it stands, I'm not sure it would accomodate their current stage set-up:
And anyways... if U2 can sell out venues with an 88,0000 capacity on their own, why would they play amongst a festival with a maximum cap of 80,0000?

Same reason Bruce, Phish, Police, and Radiohead did. They love playing to 80,000 hippies. There is cred in playing a big festival. They may not need it, but they want it. ;D

Same reason Phish did. They could (and have had) have their own 3 day festival for 100k people with no other bands. They do it because it's fun, and because they get to open up their music to people who may not have even heard of them and find a new audience.
After watching a special on Paladia, I am convinced that Iron Maiden could put on a great show. Some of you guys may argue but I think they could possibly pull off the Friday night spot. I think they would be much better than RHCP. How bout this:
Friday: Iron Maiden, Daft Punk (Late Night What Stage) Satuday: Rolling Stones, MMJ (Late Night Which Stage) Sunday: Phish
