being this is the speculation thread, the Vaselines are playing a few gigs scattered about here and there...that could be lots of fun in the small tents in the afternoon...perhaps monsters of folk, them crooked vultures, pnuma making the bill would be sweet as well. Im personally hoping for an Umph headliner slot...

You have officially lost speaking privileges.
The Beatles "bastard" child is the only thing that would headline out of your group. Even then I would rather see just McCartney than all of them together.

Harper had a pretty nice crowd after Yeasayer ended but most of them were chilling. Not saying he is headliner material just saying it's not like he couldn't fill the place up. I think that night might have been the most people I have seen in three years in centeroo for LN's.

I think that may have had more to do with NIN and MGMT though. Not saying Ben didn't contribute, but NIN could have headlined any other festival, and has.
Rule of thumb: to headline Bonnaroo, you have to be able to regularly play arena/amphitheaters on your tours, at least since 2006 (Widespread being the exception, but they do play major amphitheaters in the south).
Examples: Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Dave Matthews Band, The Police, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Phish, Metallica, Neil Young, Tool, The Dead,
We're looking at, but not limited to: Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, Stevie Wonder, the Rolling Stones, Jay-Z, The White Stripes, Coldplay, Kings of Leon, Rush, Eric Clapton & Jeff Beck, Oasis, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Muse & Daft Punk.
Pretty basic. If you can't sell out major arenas and amphitheaters, you're probably not going to headline Bonnaroo. Headliners need to be the "big" names that attract people and get attention media attention.
I love Umphrey's, Black Crowes, Flips, Ben Harper, etc. but they're not exactly the bands that sell 90,000 tickets like Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Bruce, Phish and DMB can.
Hate to be the bearer of bad(good?) news but Oasis broke up.
Yeah, and Kanye West is black. Right, guys... right!
No, I'm just messing. I heard they were going to break up.
On a side note, how many people do you think a Dispatch reunion would draw? And what kind of slot would they have... even though I think if they ever reunited they would be playing by themselves at MSG or something like that.
2/5- Papadosio 3/3- MUSE 3/12- John Mayer 3/19- The Werks 3/31- Passion Pit 4/18- Ben Folds 4/20- Against Me! 6/10- Bonnaroo 6/30- Eric Clapton and Roger Daltrey

For the...what time? Even their mother says they'll be back together before long. I thought about not listing them because they technically are broken up. 2010 is unlikely, but I'd be shocked if they aren't back on the road by 2012 (or 2011).

Dispatch would be a pretty big draw from the already large New England crowd, but I don't see it happening. All talk of their next reunion is pointing to Colorado. I know they mention it in the Zimbabwe DVD. Also, I guess at the acoustic reunion in DC Braddigan tried to get Pete and Chad to commit to do the Colorado show soon and they were apprehensive about it.
That being said, if Dispatch did play (I think they would either be Which LN or Sunday headliner), I hope we would get State Radio and Pete Francis w/ Barefoot Truth as well. State Radio killed their show in 08, and they have a new album coming out soon, so hopefully they will be back.

This would be awesome. During State Raido's show in 08, Chad talked about getting Rage to play Roo. Not sure, but I think maybe they opened a few shows for RAM?? I could handle a little RAM and State Radio in 2010.

They played the Democratic National Convention with them last year I believe. I'm sure if Superfly has any interest in State Radio they'll be back in a second, Chad said during the show that he'd been waiting for years to get to Bonnaroo.
Thom Yorke just put together a band to play some songs from 'Earaser' and some new songs, they are playing a few gigs in LA sometime soon I think. Just passin along the info
