A lot of people thought this year was gonna be great too. We can't assume anything about AC/Superfly at this point.
And also, what is the point of attacking someone with legitimate information. The fact that volunteer numbers are way down should be enough to justify ticket sales being low. Can anyone really dispute that?
yeah exactly. i thought even if people didn't believe the half the tickets part they'd at least know tickets are waaay down because they seriously had to get rid of a ton of volunteers... where as the last few years they always needed more.
they were willing to work with volunteers, and i know a few people who were denied at first, and now, since they've emailed the volunteer program, have in fact got asked back. speculating is speculating until you hear facts from the horses mouth. didn't capps or someone say recently that ticket sales were on track/better than they were this time last year???

That was an old article, those numbers were for the 2009 festival. All we've gotten this year is a decrease in volunteers, and a payment plan revival. A big red flag that tickets aren't selling well this year. And why would they? DMB plays everywhere every summer, I haven't heard anything about KOL recently, and although we all love Stevie, he's not as big of a draw as NIN or Beastie Boys were last year.

^The Headliners are a total of 3 bands. I am not going to spend the energy or money for 3 bands. The other 100+ acts are why I enjoy Roo. Did anyone here spend that much time watching the Police? I wont shed a tear if 65K only show up, less is more in this case. Anyhoo, the schedule is do out next week, cant wait to manically go over and over and over it.
i know that over 3 weeks ago we were told that in the coming weeks we'd get the schedule, but im ok with knowing that it comes out late next week now. if its later than friday, which i have off, then i am going to blow up a church full of orphans.. the ball is in your court bonnaroo

Yeah, I look at how much speculation and anticipation that the schedule's release causes and know that this will be trumped by the in depth analysis of what the worst conflict is and who wins for each timeslot.
A friend of a friend who works for AC Entertainment says the schedule is coming out next week. She said it was supposed to be released this week, but it got delayed. She's pretty high up on the food chain, so I trust her when she says next week.
any hint as to why?
hope it has nothin to do with the lips, but unless theres some sort of changes i dont see why it would be delayed? hopefully its nothin more then roundin out the dj's for the arcade/silent discos are landing a director for Q&A
Sorry it took so long for me to reply.
She has absolutely all I know. All I know is that a few days ago, she didn't know when the lineup was going to be released. Then, two days ago, she said that it was going to be delayed from this week to next week. So something's going on. Whatever it is, it can't be good.
Got this e-mail today. Looks like Thursday or Friday of next week. At least it isn't later.
Thanks for your interest in Bonnaroo. The schedule for this year's festival is not available just yet, however will be available late next week. Please stay tuned to www.bonnaroo.com for all festival information.

Whether you like it or not, the headliners are a big draw to the festival. They're the first thing people see when they look at the lineup, and what I think is the biggest factor in getting new ticket buyers.
And while it's nice to have less people personally, it's not good for the future of the festival. One year isn't going to make or break it at this point, but if they come back with a lackluster lineup again next year, Bonnaroo is in trouble.
I would love to think that this whole schedule delay situation has something to do with Pavement. They have been weird about releasing tour dates thus far. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that this whole delay mess had something to do with them, even though I doubt it does.
I'm just gonna be optimistic and hope that since they saw people really worried about Friday night conflicts and whatnot that it was taking them longer to plan it all out, lol...
plus, technically its not late compared to years before 09. I think 09 was freakishly early... Right??

I think the entire handling of this years Bonnaroo (the release, waiting until 3 weeks out to give out the schedule, charging an arm and a leg for a ticket) are really turning people off of this festival. Luckily for me personally there are about 15 bands that I want to see that aren't headliners so i'm going to go but the average fan probably wont.
not having the schedule is killing me...lucky for me, the bands i'm going to see aren't headliners. so excited! second time at bonnaroo and can't wait!

Ticket prices are the same as last year, and the schedule has been dropped later than this in years past. Some people don't think the line-up is very strong, but beyond that I'm really not sure what you mean.

Thats what people said in 2008 and look what happened in 2009.

I imagine that picking the bands would be the easy part. Paying for them, another thing entirely. I would love to see the ledger sheet (and the personal contract riders too) from Superfly on this show. Who's getting paid what and what they are getting for goodies back stage.
Personally I can't see bands like Pavement holding things up. This is a much bigger thing than that.
I had a dream last night that the schedule was announced and the Rolling Stones were on it. Which is kind of funny because there are loads of acts I'd rather see before the Stones.
i've said it before but i would be willing to bet this top 5 of the lineup is the most expensive they have ever booked. and that would explain why 6-20 is not as good as usual.

The number I have heard for Phish last year was 1.5 million, I doubt the top 3 cost that much together. Also Beastie, Byrne, NIN, Bruce area all premium HUGE acts. I do not think KOL, FLIPS, Stevie, DMB, and Jay Z cost anything like what they spent last year.
