I said he is overrated. I DID NOT say that he wasn't a fine musician, or that his music wasn't good. I just think he is overrated. My definition of overrated is as follows; to be given an undue amount of credit for quality of work. I personally like his music, especially the Raconteurs, but he has yet to blow my hair back.
Example of him being overrated: Rolling Stone lists him as number 17 on the greatest guitarist of all time list. 17th, thats ahead of Warren Haynes and Mark Knopfler.
Bonnaroo could add a new stage for 2011... this stage would have a clear plexiglass porta potty, with Jack White inside it taking a shit. And some of you suckers would show up to watch, and even consider that to be a highlight of the weekend.

depending on what else was on at the time i actually would consider watching jack white take a shit. its a more rare "get" than even bowie or prince, i doubt anyones seen jack white shit live before.

If any bonnaroo artist was taking a dump.......there'd be people going to see it. humans are sick.

Anywho...
Gotta agree with you brother! Jack White is a good musician, there is no doubt about it but it seems a little premature to be crowning him King. I have to say I respect his willingness to expand the styles and groups he plays with, that's usually a sign of a great musician.
Seriously though, jhammett, just that fact that you're saying he's overrated automatically underrates him.
So you are saying that my opinion of him being overrated automatically nullifies the opinion's of the hundred's of thousand's of people who think he is god? Seriously? If thats how it works, then i need to have more opinions, and about more interesting shit too.

hundreds of thousand's? you really think that many people think jack white is god?

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised, but that was suppose to be a joke on a joke. I thought his remark to me was sarcastic / funny, so I made one that was suppose to be sarcastic / funny, but apparently my language, and use of apostrophes confused people.
I feel about Jack White the same way I feel about Phish, except I could care less about Phish's music. And I feel a similar way about Kurt Cobain. It doesn't really mater, it's just one man's opinion. However it does appear that my remarks have completely hijacked this thread, and for that I am sorry.

Oh, don't be sorry. Some of the best threads are hijacked threads. But this one does appear to have ended up in the toilet. And that is partly my fault, so for that I am NOT sorry
^I had sympathy for you until you started dissing Phish.
Oh but come on... thats barely a diss. Its not like I said "My left testicle has more talent than (Insert band member's name)"
Anyways, not to hijack the thread further, but has anyone else noticed the dates listed for Isle of Wright and Glastonbury... they are 6/10 and 6/22. It makes me wonder if bonnaroo is gonna have to compete with them. If so that would suck.
'Roo and Isle of Wight were the same weekend this year and Jay-Z still played both festivals. Not to say that lower tier acts could afford to do the same, but just because several festivals are occurin' 'round the same time doesn't necessarily mean big, bad conflicts.

not 100% on this and someone can correct me if i'm wrong......but i'm almost certain that Roo always competes with the Isle of Wight festival because it's usually the same weekend

^that looks amazing
Paul McCartney - Daft Punk - Neil Young - My Morning Jacket - Furthur Allman Brothers Band - Primus - Ryan Adams - Interpol - Vampire Weekend - Band of Horses
seems pretty realistic as well, nicely done. i would be incredibly pleased if that was the lineup

Usually yes, but not always - they didn't conflict in 2006 or 2007. I'm pretty sure Jay-Z is the only person to perform at both over the same weekend, but he was a top-tier act so he could get away with something like that.
Exactly, I had a lot of fun, I just know they could have done better on the lineup. There were a bunch of times during the day when there was nothing I wanted to see.
Same. I know I'll have fun at Bonnaroo no matter how I feel about the artists performing that year, but ultimately it's the lineup that makes me decide whether to travel over 1,000 miles each way and spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on one weekend of fun.
Fine, I don't care. I'd still Leno myself if a lineup with these artists was announced.
True story, and so would I. It may be kind of unrealistic, but so is everybody else's mock lineup. It just seems to me that if something like that were released, it would go: Stones (Sat) - Radiohead (Fri) - Daft Punk (Sat LN) - White Stripes (Fri LN) - Pixies - MMJ - Primus. Just my $.02 though, don't take offense to this because I really like the way you think
don't get excited until we have confirmed (from Bonnaroo.....not some random site) acts.
After getting my hopes up in 2008 over the Zeppelin rumors (I really should have known better, but I so desperately wanted to believe), and then again this year over the Neil Young rumors, I've learned to take everything that doesn't come directly from AC/Superfly with an enormous truckload of salt. [/quote] I know, I was just expressing my excitement for such a potentially amazing lineup no offence taken.
