IDK why not. I guess anything is possible. There has been a lot of talk of Phish doing 2 sets. I am not sure if 2 Pearl Jam sets would sell more tickets, but 2 Phish sets certainly would (as it has been discussed and I totally agree).
Id love to see Pearl Jam, no question, but I wouldn't see both sets if they got 2. Phish, on the other hand I probably would see both sets. But who knows.
I could, however, see Pearl Jam getting a long set with a break. Like 8-12 on What on Sat. with a 30 minute intermission... That would be pretty cool

Even as we reach the end of the offseason, most of these "predictions" are still so far removed from reality that I usually can't think of a response. WTT on Which? Two Pearl Jam sets? Foster the People in the Black Keys spot from last year? Phish headlining Saturday and Sunday?
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

I really don't see Bonnaroo getting Watch the Throne. The tour is already over and it's hard to imagine them bringing it back since it was such an expensive production...unless I'm missing an article in which they say they'll bring it back in the summer.
And beyond that, Phish is going to cost a lot of money, which I think probably puts WTT's price tag out of reach for Bonnaroo 2012. Frankly, it may very well put Radiohead's price tag out of reach as well. I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up with something like Muse/The Foo Fighters, The Beach Boys, and Phish as our headliners with a really good undercard. I know Buffalo Springfield were #4 last year, but I think that was an aberration; I think there's a decent chance the Beach Boys could/would be headliners and I'd actually be perfectly OK with that.

"It depends on how this thing finishes up," Jay said in reference to his and Kanye's current Watch the Throne Tour. "We — I say 'we' because I'm in Throne mode — we're in a great place creatively. You might see a Jay, then Kanye and a Throne album next year. You know, we're really in a great place creatively. We really found our zone."
I still don't see it as likely at all, but he does encourage the possibility.

If only jay had stayed retired and kanye had been involved in some sort of deadly plane crash, I'd be a much happier man.
Creating a sustainable and credible brand is just as important for business in the long run as profit. The idea that Bonnaroo might take a smaller profit margin in a single year to boost buzz for the festival as a whole in upcoming years isn't totally ridiculous. So just because Phish cost a lot of money doesn't really mean that we won't get Radiohead, or any other expensive act to go along with them.

Bonnaroo is already as big a name as a festival can be. I don't think there are too many American Radiohead fans out there that don't know what Bonnaroo is.

If Phish can play two sets during Roo, why shouldn't PJ be afforded the same opportunity. They did three 30+ song sets in one weekend in Boston, without repeating a song.... Brilliant!

I'm sure Bruce was expensive in 09, so I wouldn't rule out a "bigger" act just because Phish seems likely to play.
Fair point. 2009 was an abnormally great lineup, though.
2008 had to be extremely expensive, too. Metallica and Pearl Jam. Plus you throw in Jack Johnson, who was a HL originally, and then WSP, that probably means HL money for 4 acts.
At this point I'm thinking
Fri - Foo Fighters Sat - RHCP > Phish LN Sun - Phish
with Beach Boys and/or Paul Simon as a pre-HL on Which or What thrown in there.
With their reunion tour now behind them, I don't think Phish is as expensive as some of you are thinking (probably no more expensive than your average headliner like Muse, Foo Fighters, etc.)
Even ACL was able to pull out a huge name in 2010 when Phish was on the bill: The Eagles.

I want to get one thing straight, because I'm very ignorant to the matter. How expensive are the Eagles? I had a couple buddies who saw them last fall for $15. I've never had them in the upper-level of classic rock headliners in my head such as McCartney, Roger Waters, Rolling Stones, etc. To me they've always seemed like an act that'd be more likely to play a state fair than Bonnaroo.

You're buddies struck gold, last time they were in my town (I think it was 2005 or 2006?) Ticket's ranged from $90 to $200 face value. So essentially nosebleeds were $90, floor was $200 and then there was everything inbetween.
What do people think about Coldplay? They have a pretty big gap in their tour around roo.
Umm no they don't..
7 June 2012: Sunderland - England
9 June 2012: Manchester - England
10 June 2012: Manchester - England
All those dates fall within Bonnaroo.. The only night they could possibly play is the 8th and do you really think they would leave england for one night just to resume their tour in england the very next night? Id say they have a less than 5% chance.
