It made me sad to read this because I know deep down that it is true. I still would list Eminem in my top 5 sets though because out of all the performers at Bonnaroo I've been a fan of his the longest. The crowd was pumped the whole time (at least around me) and I wasn't even that close. It just hit me as the show started that I was finally seeing this artist I'd been listening to for 10 years live. [/quote]
Ya I heard a lot of people that were really happy with Em's set. I think this was because they had been anticipating it so much and not many people have ever seen him. He does big shows in Detroit a little more often so I have been able to catch him twice. Hey, if you were there and enjoyed than great! It definitely sounded really good and visuals were pretty cool, it's just way to produced for me.
I feel terrible for everyone who had bad experiences with the sound at the Which Stage. We had a great spot pretty close to the right of the stage for Mumford and Buffalo Springfield, and both shows were absolutely fantastic. I could see how if the sound was low it would have ruined the experience for someone though. Sometimes its about figuring out which part of the stage you are getting the best sound from and trying to make it to that area for the rest of the weekend.
Portugal. The Man. I've seen them four times and absolutely loved the first three. Their Bonnaroo show had really bad sound, at least on the right side of the tent and it was also kind of a weird setlist for a festival show.
Apparently Portugal. the Man played a secret show really late Saturday night because it was one of their band member's birthdays. One of my friends said she was super disappointed by the first show so she went to Man Man, then stumbled upon the later show and it was awesome.

It blew me away. One of the better shows all weekend.
I agree about Sleigh Bells. I was really looking forward to this show but couldn't manage to work my way in under the tent. The music was awesome but it was very hard to hear her singing. Still love them though. I also thought Eminem's show was boring but thought Lil Wayne was awesome! And I thought Florence put on a great show but unfortunately I couldn't see any of it. They definitely should have been on a stage. Too many fans for a tent. Plus at sunset with all of that dust, I couldn't see her at all.
I forgot about Chiddy Bang, easily the worst show I saw all weekend. All he did was shout "MAKE SOME NOISE BONNAROOOOO"
Really? Because I remember him playing every one of his popular songs, him doing a genuine freestyle on subjects ranging from Pokemon, to boobs, to the Kentucky Derby (all suggested by fans in the crowd), and an overall high-energy show that was fun and interactive with the crowd.
If you were there for maybe the first 30 seconds of a song, then your summary is accurate. But for a short set he had a lot going on and it was a lot of fun.

You can't say Florence disappointed though. Amazing energy and a great performance by her. I agree they should have been put on the which but that may have taken away from it?? I don't know that was probably a tough call for them. I couldn't see anything either but my GF was one of the luck people who got to stand on a garbage can and she could see everything. Even if you couldn't see I think it was still an extremely fun show.

I wasn't at Bonnaroo, but it's sad that people are saying that The Black Keys disappointed them. I was lucky enough to see them Friday (before their set at Bonnaroo) and I thought they rocked the crowd. They were pretty energetic and they brought out Booker T Jones and played two songs.
Also, I just wanted to say this one comment, and I can get harassed for saying it. But people are saying "where was the weird?" "where was the wooks?" I mean look at the line up, I felt that Bonnaroo this year brought some more mainstream acts then in years past. But thats my opinion.

Not sure that Rap translates to such a large stage. We stayed in the RV for Emmm, and it seemed like the songs were cut off (him only singing parts???) and some guy screaming "Get your hands up!!!!)....
My Sunday conflict was saved only by EITS.... Robert Plant was bad, left that for Beruit (worse), over to Stokes (Coma) finally EITS saved the time slot!
Other than that, only Best Coast was bad (our group ALL fell asleep!)

Ray Lamontagne was a little too country for me, left early to prepare for Primus. Sunday's SuperJam was pretty boring. Wish Bootsy had come on earlier cuz it killed the rest of the night with us waiting for 3 hours.
Lil Wayne was the only "bleh" show I saw. Extremely underwhelming performance with probably the most cheesy visual effects. I left about 2 and a half songs in; from what I heard at the camp it was clear that I didn't miss out on anything
No artists disappointed me, but Bonnaroo sure did. Was I even at Bonnaroo? everyone looked so normal, it was so average, nothing weird about it at all. It just didn't feel like Bonnaroo.... I dunno if I'm the only one who felt like this, but I just couldn't get over it. I saw some amazing shows, but I feel like this festival is dead.
i would disagree with this. there was a very good vibe, much better then last year i would say. just because the people 'look normal' doesnt mean its not a good time.
on the other post, about the low amount of the other stuff, i agree. although i didnt really go out actively looking for it. im sure it could of been found.

The Strokes sounded awesome. One of my fav sets of the weekend. If you didn't know that they were gonna show up 10 minutes late and leave 15 minutes early, you haven't been paying attention to them. IIRC, they did that exact thing at Coach. And Julian's stage banter...you HAVE to know that's how he is going in. They're brats but they're great fucking musicians and they're set sounded phenomenal.
Also, whoever is saying the vibe wasn't there this year can fuck off as far as I'm concerned. To me, the best part of the vibe at Bonnaroo is the willingness of everyone to help their neighbor enjoy their weekend, and that was there in spades this year. Whiners.
Only disappointment was Weezy. I was mega excited for his late night set, but he just didn't deliver. There just wasn't enough going on, he didn't know how to work the crowd, and the sound was beyond awful--WAAAAAAAAAY too much bass (and this is coming from someone who likes a lot of bass in that kind of hip-hop music).
As far as the sound for Buffalo Springfield, it was great for me, but that's because I was in the pit, suckers
I agree with whoever said Best Coast was boring. I didn't stay for the whole show so I'm not sure if it got better but they just weren't doing it for me. However, people saying Primus were disappointing are NUTS! Primus killed it and were definitely top 5 for me! They sounded so awesome and those crazy parachute people just added to the insanity!

I thought Bela Fleck was a little boring but many from my campsite loved him so it just may not have been my cup of tea...
I thought Black Keys absolutely killed it but after learning they ended 20 min early i was disappointed in them because it completely ruined Buffalo Springfield for me. ( I would have left Black Keys early if I wasn't enjoying it so much or knew they were almost done)
Lots of people were disappointed in Bootsy being so late but I was happy because after not being able to even hear BS I got to walk right up and dance to that for about an hour before chilling at camp.
I was very disappointed in the Super Jam, and that it was late... really regretting not catching all of EITS cause the last half hour was great.
Gregg Allman was also putting me to sleep after 3 or 4 songs so I left that very early, too.
All in all it was my favorite Bonnaroo and although there were some disappointments I saw way more music than I ever have in the past. The vibes were great.
Eminem had to be the most dissapointing headliner Bonnaroo has ever had, and I actually like Eminem. There was nothing genuine about his performance and it was pretty much a re-hash of the same setlist he did at Voodoo. If you're not going to do a large scale tour with a huge production there's no reason you can't vary your setlist.
And what the hell was with his backing tracks/lip syncing?! How have no major media outlets called him out for this, it wass brutal!
black keys set was way to short... plus i don't think they work well on a stage that big. primus sound sucked on the right side of the stage. the strokes came on late, sounded like crap for the first 3 songs. left them early to see EITS and superjam. should have stayed at EITS. other then that the rest of the weekend was amazing
i think the which stage had problems all weekend. mumford was pretty low but i was sitting at the top of the beachers so the this stage could have been screwign me up
I was a bit disappointed with Galactic. They have been one of my top shows in three previous Roos and I was expecting more. I was hoping for a couple big guests as they always seem to bring out something great but it was kind of a ho-hum show in my eyes.
Also the Strokes, which I know nothing about. My GF dragged me there and I missed Beirut, which I was really feeling.
Also Gogol Bordello. I have seen them almost 10 times now and I was just expecting something more than they brought. I also thought they would have been better suited with the early latenight slot as I thought the energy of the crowd was lacking for what I expected. Some have said that this was the wildest crowd of the fest, but I thought it would be even crazier than that it seemed like a lot of people were wearing out at that point.
Also, Eminem since I was hoping for a Dre appearance. Show overall was OK but I'm not a big fan.

EM
We made it to the pit for the last 4 songs. It was ok, but standard is a bit high for a headliner. It was just ok, so that makes it a disappointment for me.
Mumford and Sons -- Only because it was way too crowded for the Which stage, and the audio sucked from the right side. Only made it through 3-4 songs and had to give up.

I had a great time, i dont see how u couldnt have a great time, but i do agree with u somewhat. i think bonnaroo is getting worse

WSP - no encore to finish the 10th anniv. 'roo. - not cool
I was front row to the left under the screen for Buffalo Springfield. Sound wasn't that loud,... but unless it's a neil young song or 2 Buffalo Springfield is a 60's pop acoustic based band. They are not a loud band. Not sure what people were expecting to here.
Both Mumford & Springfield should have been on the What Stage. Galactic shouldn't be playing that early in the day.
Buffalo Springfield was my biggest let down. I was sooo pumped to see them and with the sound issues it really put a damper on their performance. I dont think Neil was to pleased either! ah well!
I was disappointed that Bootsy was so late that I missed him. If I had known the sound at Black Keys would be so lame I would have stayed at Bootsy.
Seeing this was the big 10th Roo where weren't there more veteran special guests and/ or 'only at Bonnaroo' type events? We saw Jack White backstage at Karen Elson but that was it. We saw Jack White's record store van but that was it. We followed the 'secret parade' after Dr. John to.......Portugal.The Man? 'Thanks everybody. This is our second Bonnaroo. Woo hoo!'
Im disappointed with sound at buffalo springfield, VERY DISAPPOINTED. And eminem and lil wayne sucked, please never bring them back. On that note, lets just completely get rid of the rap or hip-hop, whatever u wanna call that crap.
