Im disappointed with sound at buffalo springfield, VERY DISAPPOINTED. And eminem and lil wayne sucked, please never bring them back. On that note, lets just completely get rid of the rap or hip-hop, whatever u wanna call that crap.
They won't be back. but watch your mouth hip hop is still an important element of this festival - and if you missed Big Boi, Atmosphere, Wiz or J.Cole (who I heard multiple times was great) you better have seen something amazing.
Em was an excellent time to take a nap to stay up till 7 am though... so kudos roo?
Best Coast was definitely a bore. I had seen them before and their shows are usually pretty low key so I wasn't surprised. I think Bethany said something like "you guys look bored."
And I hate to admit it, but I was disappointed by the Black Keys as well. I missed them last year and was so stoked to see them but their set felt too short and they just didn't have the energy I imagined they would. Maybe it's because I wasn't up front, but most of the time I was just watching some chick hula hoop really well.
Also, it's upsetting to hear that the Superjam wasn't that great. I had REALLY wanted to go to that but I guess now I can be relieved I went to EITS.
Lil' Wayne. #1 most anticipated show, left about 35 minutes into his set. Although, after the one-two punch of MMJ/AF, I don't know if anything could have sounded as great. It was bound to be all downhill after that.

Also, on the crowd this year - and I'm not just basing my judgments on how they look - a lot of the people that I talked to this year were far more interested in the substances they ingested then the bands that they saw.
I've had this problem in the past but this year the crowd seemed much younger.
^^ same. I honestly saw a crazy amount of noobaroos who didn't open their mouths to talk to us all weekend. Which of course included the caravan of 9 cars we let in before us and gave free coal too.. lol. 25+ that I met all were pretty awesome, and way more interesting then previous years.
weird year imo

So fucking true, and no truer than anything other than Bassnectar. Been to a couple of his shows so I know what to expect but these guys were just beating up on the girls in there. Plus the girls weren't much better... the ones behind me were so messed up, we almost wanted to call a medic for them. It's sad, really...

Left Bootsy because of the Kanye vibe...wish I would've never left.
The Strokes straight mailed it in too. Kicking myself for not picking Explosions but Julian and the gang killed it so much at Lolla last year that I wasn't expecting that at all.

I saw 3 rap/hip-hop acts this weekend. Wayne, Em, and Childish Gambino (Donald Glover). Is it odd that I thought CG was the best of all three by a long-shot?
Does Eminem always lipsynch during live shows? I thought he got bashed for that so much during his relapse (aka drugged out) period that he stopped lip synching but it seemed clear to me that he still had a full backing track and only actually rapped partial lines. Does that somehow not qualify as full-fledged lipsynching?
Oh but beyond that Sleigh Bells was easily the most disappointing show. I saw them over a year ago open for Yeasayer and other than getting a better light show not much has changed other than a ton of undeserved hype.

Chiddy Bang- Took them forever to come out and when Xaphoon did Chiddy left him out to hang for like 20 minutes before he actually showed up. I felt like he showed up his band mate terribly.
Big Boi- Was so pumped for this late night show and just felt that it lacked... energy or something. It felt flat to me.
The Black Keys- They just felt real flat and left early. Disappointing.
The League Live- this was my biggest disappointment of the whole weekend. I LOVE the show and thought since it was billed as "The League Live" that at least some of the show would have something to do with it.

The League is one of my favorite shows too and I was bummed I missed it. So it didn't really have anything to do with the show??

Glad I skipped Black Keys to get a great spot for Buffalo Springfield. Their set last year was a full hour and a half and was one of my all time favorite roo sets.
Also, for people mentioning the people they were around not being there for the music, I felt like I talked to a bunch more people than usual this year about music. Maybe it was because I wasn't around the big stages unless I was in the pit, but I had so many random conversations started this year.

To echo others' sentiments, Lil Wayne was a HUGE disappointment, but I honestly felt like it was more the sound quality than anything. Other than that, I can honestly say that pretty much every show I saw was enjoyable, obviously some moreso than others. MMJ, Pretty Lights, and STS9 were three of the best I've ever seen.

Out of 7 years this was one of the best all-around years of music that I've had, so the disappointments were sparse. Iron & Wine was disappointing, but I really don't like the sound he's moved towards in the past few years, so it's not so much a performance complaint.
Also, I thought I'd enjoy Superjam more after feeling like the Dr. John/Meters set was the set of the festival for me. I adore Nola music, but it seemed lacking in energy. Iko Iko was fun, though.
As for the crowd, I'm feeling Nod completely. I had the most music conversation I've ever had this year. The crowd looks younger and younger every year, but that's just because I keep getting older and older. I feel like Matthew McConaughey.

Getting dragged to the Scissor Sisters for the last few songs was pretty awful. I didn't like their stuff beforehand and it really confirmed my hate for them.
Best Coast...only because i felt the bass was WAYYYY too loud. I could barely hear her.
Absolutely agree with you, bass wayyyy to loud. I was looking forward to them, but seemed like a yawnfest to me. I left and caught the end of School of Seven Bells (I think), which was great.
I wasn't disappointed, just kinda let down with Dam-Funk. Don't get me wrong, it was a fantastic show, but his show was billed with a backing band and it was just him and his electronics. Like I said, fantastic show, but I guess his band fell through last minute.

You have to be careful with Dam-Funk. He'll pull a Bonobo in a heartbeat and what was supposed to be a full band set will become a DJ set in milliseconds.

Yeah I will add to Dam Funk being a let down and Iron and Wine was a little too sleepy for me at the time. I will also say that Stills' strained/weakened voice put a bit of a damper on the Buffalo Springfield set
i just never wanna see annything like eminem or lil wayne or kanye on the farm
I'm not a huge Eminem fan but I was happy to get the chance to see him. Lil Wayne and Eminem crowds ruined what I thought would be Bonnaroo (maybe I'm way too naive? Possibly). Ahh, oh well, I'm giving it another go next year though!

Sleigh Bells deserves the hype because their CD is awesome, but their live show is incredibly underwhelming. I missed this one (couldn't make it until Friday), but at Moogfest I felt pretty disappointed by their show. Hopefully they do a new album soon and change up their live show for the better.

I'm a little surprised but mostly relieved to hear that Primus sucked. I really wanted to see them, but had to go back to camp at some point to prepare for late night madness. I did get to see NOFX so I got my 90's throwback alternative fix (I'm old).
I was let down by Buffalo Springfield, as noted before this was a sound thing and not a performance thing. We left Springfield to go chill out and get a close spot for Eminem, which was another disappointment. If I had wanted to watch music videos, I would have preferred the seating and AC offered by the Cinema Tent.
All of that being said, I REALLY enjoyed almost every show I saw this year and was pleasantly surprised by a few. Perhaps it was my state of mind, but I really enjoyed Lil' Wayne. I wasn't planning on seeing him and don't know his music, but I was digging it. Again my enjoyment was probably aided by the "preparation" that caused me to miss Primus.
Should have never left mmj with thirty minutes left for primus. Mmj was the best show this year and primus disappointed
tHIS. dude i totally came back to MMJ.. had to buy a lady a drink to boot for being right about telling me not to leave. lol
oh and weezy... why the bleep did i stand there for 30 minutes.. only regrettably lost time all weekend
edit: plus bootsy being so late that I had to move for a better spot at the what stage
Your head must have been in a different place than mine, because I loved every minute of that show, up until I had to leave to get a good spot for Arcade Fire.

Opeth is one of my all time favorite bands and I was really disappointed by their set. I had hyped it up to be my #1 must see so it was bound to happen.
They came on really late and I think they might have ended early. For a 75 minute set that's inexcusable.
You could tell they hadn't played in a while, I think. Kind of sloppy for Opeth anyway. I give them a pass for this because it's the first show with the new keyboard guy.
They flew out here just to play this one show, and it seemed apparent to me that they just wanted to rip through a set so they could get back home.
The crowd is what really ruined it for me, though. I purposefully got a spot close up front and to the left, since the moshing usually starts a few rows further back and in the center. All day in that metal tent, though, the pit followed me around. I didnt mind that much, and I stayed at the edge of the pit and was pushing people back in and away from the people who didn't want to participate. Then some girl behind me kept nudging me forward and pressuring me to mosh. I stepped up just a few feet to give her room as I thought maybe she couldn't see, and I was immediately pushed unnecessarily hard (I've moshed before, I get the idea, but this was just some crazed bro) and I literally flew backwards through about 4 people into A SEPARATE MOSH PIT THAT HAD JUST STARTED. This was all within the first song, and I had to move back to where the crowd wasn't into it at all.
I'll be seeing them again in September and I know it will be awesome, but I just didn't like the vibe at all at this show.
