Marfa Myths, Marfa, Texas - First Weekend of Jazz Fest
This may be one of the more interesting lineups out in a while for a small festival:
Khruangbin Deerhunter Tim Hecker & Konoyo Ensemble Annette Peacock (singer on the first Bruford album in 77, also "My mama never taught me how to cook, that's why I'm so skinny!" ^^^ while funny, these auto-replacements are pretty retarded sometimes
the new deerhunter album was recorded while Bradford was 'artist in residence' at marfa last year. solid lineup, but it's really fucking far and pretty expensive.
Everything about Marfa is boujee and elitist as fuck.
Where is the market for that though? North Central Mexico? El Paso? Los Cruces? I can't imagine it drawing more than 100 people from Midland/Odessa. The lineup looks like something you might see in California or a metropolitan area.
Everything about Marfa is boujee and elitist as fuck.

The whole vibe is bringing that shit to the middle of nowhere because it's funny or something.

el paso, big bend visitors, affluent hippies that can make the travel from austin/houston/dallas
That's really odd. I know they do it at Arcosanti, AZ for the festival that Hundred Waters curates. But it's capped at very few people - like 1,500 or so. And most of the attendees (who don't pay VIP) have to apply to go and part of that application is what type of art and/or creativity project one is bringing along. This just looks strange. But the lineup is extremely cool for West Texas and at least very cool for most everywhere else. Even if it is boujee and shit, it's pretty cool that they have enough attendees to have kept it going for 5-6 years. IDK
Yeah, I'll drive 9 hours to Mulberry Mountain, but that's about it. 7 is generally the limit (Austin/Spirit of Suwanee, FL/Manchester, TN).
I found a link to bestclassicbands.com from Jazz Fest Forum. They think they've got some of the Stones tour figured out. Obviously it's just rumors and speculation at this point and probably won't be 100% accurate. But the rumored tour stops are:
04/20 or 04/24 - Miami, FL @ Hard Rock Stadium 04/20 or 04/24 - Jacksonville, FL @ IAA Bank Field 05/02 - New Orleans @ Jazz Fest 06/13 and/or 06/17 East Rutherford, NJ @ Metlife Stadium
The "fan site" without specific dates:
Houston, TX @ NRG Stadium Pasadena, CA @ Rose Bowl Santa Clara, CA @ Levi's Stadium Philadelphia, PA @ Lincoln Financial Field Denver, CO @ Mile High Stadium Chicago, IL @ Soldier Field Foxboro, MA @ Gillette Stadium
The annual funk event will also celebrate their double-digit birthday with larger festival grounds this year. In addition to a Food Truck Village and 15+ vendors to keep attendees energized and funked up all weekend long, the event’s producers have also expanded their VIP experience for the coming year with the Captain Nemo’s Nautilus Lounge, a very fitting title for the waterfront event that takes place along the shores of the Gasparilla Sound on Florida’s Gulf coast. The newly themed VIP experience will include complimentary craft beer and boutique wine in addition to “special effects” and a front-row seat to all the performances that weekend. Aye aye, Captain!
One of the other features that sets Funk Fest aside from traditionally strict mainstream music events is the fact that attendees have the chance to take in all the fun with their furry friends. You read that correctly—Funk Fest is a pet-friendly festival as, long as said animals remain on their leashes at all times and owners clean up after their them. The answers to other F.A.Q.s and more general information can be found at the festival’s official website.
