Does anybody want/need a website? I need to make some more to add to my portfolio and I only have a few I can add right now. Just need to design/code some things to put my name on and I have trouble just making up fake sites.

I've got a sweeps blog, not sure if it's what you're looking for but you're welcome to look. Kathy's Kontests
This is the exact reason I'm starting to think about it. And often times I have this random high pitched ringing in my ears. Sometimes is prompted, often times it's out of nowhere.
I think I'm definitely going to look into those earplugs, GL. Losing, or even diminishing, my hearing is probably the worst thing I could of to happen to me. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
After doing some research, it looks like a symptom of TMJ - fluid getting trapped behind the eardrum because of a stupid jaw and other nonsense. I've also noticed odd pressures in my right ear when I wake up sometimes, so this makes sense. An ENT should be able to help with a diagnosis.
Yea, I have a permanent-ish issue with my right ear like that - sometimes the pressure will offset and it'll sound super stuffy (it happened during a shoot a few years ago and isn't direct damage to my eardrums so it'll either get better or won't kind of thing)
I personally have two of the earplugs from Etymotic that crazykittensmile had recommended. Life savers for both work and play because they come in a little case that I can keep cleanly in my bag or pocket. Highly recommend.

Man. I need to get some. I am still missing a good chunk of my hearing in my right ear and would like to preserve the rest. My dad lost some of his hearing in the war. I lost mine to a fucking confetti canon. Apropos.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

A shell exploded next to my grandfather's ear in WWII and badly damaged his hearing. Now two of his grandkids voluntarily lose theirs at festivals and clubs. Just following in the family tradition, Pop!
I need to get some too; I want to be able to rock the fuck out in the nursing home someday. I find smaller DJs are some of the worst culprits - at least let me lose my hearing to a band I care about. Although I recently took that high-pitch frequency ear test, and I'm still scoring above par for my age. I'd like to keep it that way.
Who would have guessed that so many of us own the same earplugs?
This board was a lot of the reason I ordered those. I forget who brought them up first though. It was either FuzzyWarbles or steveternal. It was one of the Steve's. That I know.

I feel like there was a mad rush on them then.
steveternal gave me a pair at 2009 Bonnaroo. I own several pair now.

Ahh. On old girlfriend got mine for me. She was a musician.
I used to say I missed a lot from earplugs (but I only had access to the foam 30dB types way back then), but I miss the sound of silence a lot more now...
I've been wearing mine since the middle of '08 and have recommended them on this board a few times. I envision a day when I'll be able to spot all of you at Roo because we will all be protecting our hearing with Etymotics. If I can see them underneath those Panda Hats.

I first bought them back when I was primarily working as a piano tuner, and I was extra-sensitive about preserving my hearing. But yeah, I still use them whenever I'm at a live concert. They are terrific and so worth the price.

I'm thinking I need to start wearing ear plugs to shows I go to. Is this nerdy? Does this mean I'm old?
Not weird. As a musician and (hahaha) engineer I consider my hearing to be my biggest asset, so obviously it needs to be taken care of. I have a custom pair of these for when I DJ, go to concerts, etc.
If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost you for the appointment with the audiologist for the molding?
I like my cheap $15 Etymotics, but I'd be willing to invest in something a little more high end. The $15 ones are nice, but not perfect. I find I like the sound better from them if they're not deep into my ear canal.
Also, I remember at Swans this summer, I saw a kid in front of the speaker stack without ear plugs. I can't even begin to imagine the hearing damage done from that show alone. His hearing must have been terrible already though, or he would have been on physical pain. I was near the stack with my Etys in, and afterward I could tell my ears were right on the verge of being exposed to too much. No ringing, but there was a strange sense of "relief" when I was back in the car.
Steve Aoki. That's part of why I'm still laughing.
Apparently he sent a cease & desist order to the makers of the shirt. It was ruining his reputation.
His reputation of being a shitty DJ who panders to the whims of drug-addled 18-year olds who pine for perpetual drops inside of best-night-of-your-life lyrics is in jeopardy?!
