Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I prefer something blue from a guy named Heisenberg. That'll get you jacked up. Breaking Bad fans know what I'm talkin about.
Honestly, just take it easy during the day. What Stage acts sound almost as good from the mist tents, and you can nap there between shows. A 5 hour energy right after the headliner and you're good to go. Also, we cheated last year and got a hotel on Friday night. I was originally against it, but one full night sleep and a shower went a long way. Just think how much better you would feel if you could skip the 8 til noon phase of the day where there's nothing to do but bake in the sun. Well worth it if you can afford it
Drink lots of water. Nap in between shows when possible.
If you're gonna skip a headliner, go back to camp, get everything you're gonna need for the night and head to the tent or stage you're gonna be at for late-night and nap some more. The only reason I was wide awake for Sigur Ros and Ghostland Observatory in 2008 was that I completely skipped Pearl Jam and took a long nap by the soundboard before Sigur Ros.

As sad as it may be to miss certain acts, don't even go into centeroo until the sun starts to go down. Staying at base camp hiding in the shade relaxing until its safe to go outside is the best thing I've learned. If you do feel the need to see a show while the sun Is blazing think about going back to camp to rest up even if means missing some acts. Getting into centeroo early to catch that one small act you love might mean missing a few of your most anticipated acts later that night. In short, pace yourself in the heat.
Get a job as a cook. Pretty sure this is the only reason why I do so well at Roo. Even being used to the humidity doesn't top it. Cooking will teach you heat tolerance, overcoming sleep deprivation and how to throw down throughout the night. Probably not a realistic option but I don't have any other advice since I am unaffected by the elements there. Best of luck.

I work outdoors many days in Florida walking around a theme park in a long sleeve shirt and slacks, so I'm hoping that has me prepared for long days under the sun. But I'm still very thankful for this thread, as I know I'll be wanting to stay up for some of the late night acts.
Why? It's easy to underestimate the toll this fest can take on you during the day. If you're over ambitious and try to see every band you want starting at noon and trying to go till 2 am you are gonna be hurting. I know my first year I had planned to see an act at every possible minute and quickly realized I just couldn't do it

THIS.
I did this last year, and if it is Latenights that you want to see the most and are trying to save energy for, you really have to weigh the importance of those day-time acts. The sun takes no prisoners.

REDLINE ENERGY DRINKS! i don't know if they sell them everywhere yet but they just came out around here and gas stations opposed to just being available at GNC type stores. They are SERIOUS though. It says a serving is half the bottle and only drink a half bottle!!! A whole one had me shaking and sweating for 3 hours...but i was up allll night.
sleeping before getting to the festival helps alot and taking power naps. Setting your campsite up so you can get a feww extra zz's in the morning, I know its hard but try to not drink to much alcyhol makes you pretty damn tired. pace yourself and have fun
Has anyone every had a bad experience with those 5 hour energy drinks?
My husband wants to try us to try one but they make me nervous for some reason. I get really jittery if I drink too much coke and I'm not a coffee drinker.
How are they compared to coffee or the caffeine in pop/soda?
My friends and i do what we call a Yuc Buck. We take one of those utz pretzel barrels and fill it with about a handle and a half of vodka (depending on size of the barrel) then add enough juice so that it is drinkable. We then add the secret ingredient....2-3 5 hour energies and whatever other energy suplement one thinks should be added. Plus more juice to make it more drinkable. The idea is everyone partaking must stand in a circle shirtless (guys and girls, not gay i swear girls have done this every time i've done it) and as soon as drinking starts it cannot be put down till its finished. The point i'm trying to make here is that after my first time yucking.... i blacked out hard. Ended up getting filled in as to what i was doing for a week and a half. And still don't really know the whole story.
Positives: i didn't pass out anywhere, was full of energy, people tell me i was coherent and talking fine
Negatives: I know it was the five hour energy that made me to in to blackout mode. Still missig parts of my memory....
Moral: 5 hour energies work, don't mix with liquor and if you do.... when partaking in a Yuck Buck.... Don't be a Hero!!!
That is my only bad experience with 5 hour energies
Wow, that sounds ... Interesting. I have never had a bad experience. The worst I hear was someone staying up 48 hours straight, but they were high strung to start with
The caffeine isn't what makes people have reactions to 5 hour energy. It is the massive amounts of niacin in them. The 5 hour energy guy comes through work every once in a while and hands them out to us by the dozens. When I drink them it makes me really alert for about 3 hours. It also makes me really red and sweat easier. I small price to pay for staying awake in my opinion.

Thought that my first year. Don't rely on it, Tennessee is hotter than the devil's balls, seriously. also, there is caffeine free 5 hour energy, it works, but not quite as well or as long.

I am certainly in no way a night person.. I normally goto bed at like 9:30pm and any time after that I am grumpy and want to murder people.. but when at bonnaroo.. the mindset definitely allows you to stay up much later than you normally would.. THE BRAIN IS AN AMAZING THING! It knows you are somewhere that you MUST stay up late for, so the brain adjusts the body accordingly. Usually have no problem going to 3 or 4am and getting 5 hrs sleep a night for 4 days straight. But I also do not drink alcohol so that might help me.

odd cuz i dont sleep for the 5 days im down there. My friend molly usually yaps in my ear all night when im trying to go to sleep so i just stay up all night partying.
Unless I'm horribly dehydrated. The excitement of LN just keeps my brain wired. The past two years, I have been to every late night show from Thursday till Saturday. Unlike my first Roo experience.
What I have learned: Take it easy on alcohol, do not get hungover drunk. Drinks lots and lots of water (Invest in a camelback instead of reusing a bottle over and over) Saves time in lines and ease of drinking allows you to hydrate more often. Either take long rested sleeps through the morning or take little naps throughout the day. I prefer doin the former because I rather take a good 6 hour sleep. To beat the sun in the morning, get an EZ-up and a tent with a good amount of flaps to let air and the breeze through. You'll be good to go. If you happen to find things that "stimulates" your senses, that works too. It's your Bonnaroo.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
-Multi vitamin in the morning. Gotta nourish the body.
-Avoid any of Satan's beverages before afternoon/sundown.
-Drink water. I think that has been beaten to death but don't forget! CamelBack with ice is a good way to stay cool and security won't make you dump it out.
-Afternoon nap. Last year, I slept for about half an hour and felt great for all late-night activities. Iced coffee after is always pleasant too.
-Eat legitimate food. I find this to be a good excuse to hit up the food truck court, although that may not be the healthiest choice.
-Do not party too hard. I love Lucifer's libations as much as anyone but blacking out definitely puts a hamper on the late-nite scene.
I have just begun work for 5-hour Energy and will be stockpiling the amount I'm allowed each week. If anyone needs any let me know and we can make arrangements!
Yeah! I'm pretty pumped about it. I'll probably be wearing disco shorts and a big foam cowboy hat but I'm gonna keep an eye out for the meetup as we get closer. will be a lifesaver especially for the late nights!
