Madeline, I know someone will make some photos for you. Ya gotta be a proud momma.
I'm not missing anything. I'll just be glad to be done with this batch of kids I've had this school year. These high schoolers might as well be kindergarteners, the little *hits. I'm looking forward to this summer vacation.
My band is playing a headlining show on Saturday at a fairly popular club. We're bringing in a ringer to sit in for me. I'm a little bummed because I know there's going to be a large turnout, but OTOH I told our singer multiple times and even gave him those dates as black outs for any rehearsals or shows so I feel no guilt what so ever!
My soon to be 6 yr old son will be getting screwed yet again on his birthday. It's June 5th and things are so crazy with leaving for Roo and the end of school we barely celebrate at least compared to what our 8 yr old does for her birthday in April. We have to do things early or late. Luckily he's a bit clueless and as long as he gets some new robots he'll be happy but I still feel bad.
I definitely know where you are coming from and I always thought those graduations from preschool and Kindergarten were kind of silly anyway. Try not to stress too much about it, as long as you are an active and involved parent the rest of the time I don't think they'll care that much. Maybe get them a special gift from you to open while you are gone?

Madeline. Don't feel too guilty! I know you'd love to be there for your son. But in reality (not to sound harsh) it is only kindergarten. You'll be around for so many other special moments in his life, this could be the one to miss. Think about the wonderful pictures you two can share when you get home! I'm sure he knows how important he is to you. Happy Roo!
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

My girlfriend's friend (and I guess my friend by extension) is getting married that weekend. Fortunately I have a super understanding lady so she's not giving me any grief over it. She knows I look forward to this every year and she's got a friend to go with her. It only kind of bums me out a little since her friend is really hip and the reception will probably be a great drunken romp- not as great as the 'roo romp, of course.
Strength of Materials in summer school. Not bummed about it at all. Until the final comes. Just finished my Design of Machine Elements class though which is supposed to be a class ahead of it and harder. I'll be fine. I did it in Thermodynamics last year and got an A.
My son will be finishing 5th grade and moving on to middle school. We've just recently found out that the awards ceremony is going to be held Thursday, instead of earlier as we had been assured. Sucks because the kid is a freaking whiz and will certainly be coming home with an arm load of awards.
He hasn't complained about it, probably because we've promised to take him his junior year if he's still interested.
Try not to feel too bad Madeline, kids can sense guilt, I swear it. See you at brunch and we can toast to the kiddos.

Wasn't important, nor did I "miss" it, but my 10 year high school reunion occurred during Bonnaroo '09. Gave me a chuckle when I got the invite.
This year I'll be "missing" the first day of my corporate training in Kansas City. Oh how I excited I am to think about the fact that I have to hop on a plane Monday afternoon to spend my post-roo week at my company's headquarters. It's going to be great fun. I'm sure I'll be impressive. /sarcasm
haha I KNOW kindergarten graduation is nuts! But have you SEEN a 6 year old in a cap and gown? I'm pretty sure teachers do ridiculously cute things like this so we don't give in to our non stop urges to kill our kids.
Not missing anything this year, but my brother scheduled his wedding during roo last year. I begged him and his now wife to move the date to later in the month and they did (didn't care about going to the wedding but didn't want to take the grief from the family about not attending)! He and his friends ended up at roo as well. Everything worked out quite well.
^^^^^^Not to thread jack, but I am intrigued by your sig bigbuddha From whence did it come?
Apparently it's a book by a writer/blogger and an illustrator I have never heard of: nakedtea.blogspot.com/2011/12/naked-tea.html I was looking for an image of a "mugwump" for the sig and came across this image of Burroughs that is so much better. The book itself looks really cool.
My older brother was planning on getting married this year during Roo. My little brother and I have gone to Roo the past FIVE years in a row together, family tradition. We thought we were going to miss one or the other, but they ended up moving the wedding Heehee.
Now for us to find tickets! We are still unsure if we can make it. I'm super broke, just got done working with a peace organization=no money. He's on his was to grad school=no money. We're hoping the Bonnaroo Gods look out for us~~~
My wife's due date is set for Saturday, but I'm missing it to be at the Roo. It's alright if you miss his kindergarten graduation...there will be better things to see. I didn't even have a kindergarten graduation ceremony.
