I was at a steak and shake close to Bonnaroo sunday morning around 3 am........the place was packed with locals eating. We get up and go pay for our food and noticed some guys with yellow artist bands on their wrists. Got to start talking and it was Kurt Vile and the Violators! Kurt's a good guy and was talking about the Alice Cooper show.
I got to meet the guys from art vs science at their Chicago show last Tuesday. They didn't even know they were playing up against Alice cooper until I told them! The guitarist remembered me when I went to shake his hand after their miller tent show.

I crossed paths with Brittney from Alabama Shakes near the ferris wheel after leaving the superjam and unchained expecting a surprise appearance from Jack White. I also met the lead singer from Blind Pilot after their second show before the signing.
Everyone experiences music differently. To say that something is subjectively wrong with live music is to also say that you are more than just your credentials or experience. It says that you are above whatever it is that you see as being the standard. Breaking everything down critically to the point where you are above every matter looking down on it only isolates you and makes you look foolish.
I met Luther Dickinson from North Mississippi Allstars/The Black Crowes/The Word. He had just played what is called a Bonnaroo Pop Up? North Mississippi Allstars DUO played unannounced on a flatbed truck at the base of the big clock tower. Unannounced Pop Up concerts are new to me. He is a nice guy & I was a bit nervous and forgot to ask for autograph.

I met doug benson in line for his movie interruption. It was actually a pretty funny little conversation. We were in the far back of the line, without any tickets, 20 minutes before it was about to start.
All of the sudden I see doug benson walking around and shaking hands. And I keep on hearing him say...
"Yeah, yeah, you guys are totally going to get in. You should just keep waiting in line. You know....I have a feeling that you guys are going to get in even if you don't have a ticket. Just keep waiting in line guys. But hey....even if you don't get in you should come back tomorrow."
Ten minutes later a bonnaroo official came by and asked if anyone in our area had tickets. We said no and he asked us to disperse because they were out of tickets.
We missed the Trampled by Turtles set because of being at the Avetts so we went to see them at the Sonic Stage the next day and then stayed for the CD signing. We got a vinyl and a t-shirt signed and meeting them was great. I told Dave (the lead singer) how he and my brother look so much alike and he said that he feels sorry for him then.
Other than that, no other sightings.
Oh, there were 2 guys in front of us in the Beach Boys pit that had the yellow artist wrist bands on but no clue who they were. They left about 3/4 of the way through.
was lucky enough to end up on the rail when charles got down and started shaking/holding hands/giving hugs and got a hand hold myself briefly spoke to the bass player from deep dark woods - ran into brittany howard & one of the back-up singers for feist. everyone seemed so appreciative, down to earth, and just happy to be there.

I saw EMA's show on Thursday and then she walked right past me outside the artist/vendor entrance on Saturday. When I realized who it was she was already past and I was too shy/sober to run after her; biggest regret all weekend.
I met Ashley Capps, the bass player from Deep Dark Woods, the bass player from Valient Thorr and (much like much of Inforoo) the entirety of Art Vs Science.
What was the meeting with AC like?
I saw him walking from The Other Tent after he left EMA. He was checking something on his phone, but when he finished, I walked up and said hi. He put his arm around my shoulder and we walked most of the way back to This Tent talking about how awesome the weather looked to be for the weekend and such. Way friendlier than I expected.
Saw Tune-Yards in the artist section watching Michael Kiwanuka. Saw her leave and started to follow her out to see if I could get a picture with her, but she jumped on a golf cart and took off.
Met Chris Thile in the crowd at the Superjam and got a picture with him. He was with others who said "how come you're the only one people recognize Chris?" I'm assuming the others were some of the other punch brothers too.
