My guess is that the headliners were booked unusually early last year, which dictated the ticket price, which meant they could do the presale earlier. That's totally a guess though.
EDIT: They also did a fair number of improvements to the farm in the offseason so perhaps they just needed the cash.
The first clue is from a handbill that is supposed to be handed out NYE at Bassnectar. Abra received it 12/24, but others could have go it earlier, and it was meant to be distributed later.
