Abraham Orellana, a 23-year-old hip-hop producer known as AraabMUZIK, was shot in the chest during an attempted robbery in the West End early Thursday.
Dennis "D.J." Miller, 37, told police that as he and Orellana were leaving the Satin Doll strip club in downtown Providence, a man he recognized asked Miller if he wanted to buy marij-uana, said Deputy Chief Thomas F. Oates III.
Miller and Orellana drove him down to Dexter and Cranston streets, where the man drew a gun and demanded money, Oates said.
Orellana tried to grab the gun away, but was shot as he and Miller fled, according to a police report. Miller drove him to Rhode Island Hospital.
Oates said Orellana's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

That's horrible! I hope he gets better. That part of Providence isn't the nicest neighborhood. I had a few interesting encounters there in my early 20s.
