Was thinking about this today because of the new Vampire Weekend. What are some bands that match up (career arc, sound, influence) to other bands from the past.

And both of these are excellent choices.
Other than the whole Tame Impala didn't have a mentally ill person as the front man at first who left the band and then the remaining band members got more famous and wrote a wicked cool song about the mentally ill guy. Although that could still happen for sure.

Was he mentally ill to begin with? Or was it the habitual use of a certain powerful hallucinogenic drug that kinda twisted and fried his brain. I always thought it was the latter, but I have been wrong many MANY times. It's how I learn.
