How we discuss something iportant... The fucking Lightning 2-0!!! I'm hammered and ecstatic. Bring it on Canadiens, y'all can't even spell your nationality correct!!
I should note, my heart says Habs in 6, but my brain tells me Tampa in 5. Depends on how well the Habs can score (bishop sucks or not), and if price can keep getting better.

florida theory in full effect.
Let's go bandwagon jumper!!
Wild in 7 Ducks in 5
Caps in 7 Habs in 6
How about fuck you Boner, I've followed the NHL for years, I had no idea this thread existed though. I mostly operate in the music and Bonnaroo related threads, all these other threads are uncharted territory for me. And anyone that picks Canadiens over Lightning is just being illogical

I dunno dude, you find the thread for the first time drunk after a huge win. Seems fishy to me.
And of course it's illogical to believe that a team with: - the best goalie on the planet, -a Norris trophy Defenseman, - the NHL's leader in +/-, - finished 1st in its division,
could possible defeat a team with: - a potent offence (that has yet to find any sort of consistency in the playoffs, even after a 7 game series against the weakest team in the playoffs) - a very young, relatively untested core group of players - a shaky, 1st time to the playoffs type goalie.
At least I've got myself a new rival for the series, I was getting worried Tampa fans were just a fairytale Garry Bettman told Canadians to justify having a hockey team in fucking Florida.

glad to see that Boner is the only one picking the wild, because obviously the canadian knows the most about hockey on here, and he's right. blackhawks going down, in 6
favorite meme i've seen this week so far: picture of the most interesting man in the world..."i don't always watch girls hockey, but when i do, it's the blackhawks"

No way, Hawks all the way. It would nice if they stopped pushing the start time back for tomorrow's game. 8:30pm now, it's going to be a late night.

what makes you pick the hawks? oh the same reason i'm picking the wild lol.
830 is fine by me on a friday night, should be able to get 12 drinks in before the game
My brother is a Blues fan and bought tickets expecting Hawks v. Blues. I bought those off him and now I'm going to all 4 home games this series (if applicable). Very exciting.
we have a factory and office down in chicago, i told my boss he should send me down there when we're playing you guys. i'd love that, won't happen

Those are all good points, and yet the Habs still weren't able to beat Tampa Bay once this season.

I was sure the Blues would do away with the Wild, but after watching that goaltending, and weathering the storm of offence the Blues have, I just feel they have that "it" factor to get through the Hawks. I also have more faith in the way Dub is playing vs whoever Chicago decides to throw in nets. That said, it's gonna be tough for anyone to get past the Ducks.

yea, big series for the wild, being as it's now 3 years in a row we're facing them. Dub is solid, our D is pretty damn good, which includes forechecking and neutral zone action as well. should be a great battle. slow toews and kane and you can get to em, yes they have tons of others, but put out the two cylinders and make the rest beat ya

Yes, this is the point drunk Fore was thinking of last night when saying it was illogical to expect the Habs to win. I hope we sweep em just so I can talk shit to Boner, haha
God damnit, here is a quote from an article about the upcoming games...
"The Canadiens swept Tampa Bay in the first round of the playoffs last year, but the Lightning won all five games against Montreal this season (4-0-1) while outscoring the Habs 21-8. The Canadiens had a 4-0-0 record against the Red Wings this season."
Sorry, it was the 2013-14 season where they beat Habs 3-1 in regular season, only to get swept in the playoffs. There was a 1-0 Shootout loss this year, so that's open ended as far as I'm concerned. Bottom line, is regular season means jack shit. If you played them 4 times in a row, maybe there'd be more to read into, but teams become much different once the playoffs begin.

Haha, I think that is obvious considering what L.A. did last year

. Next paragraph...
“The (regular season) results really don’t matter at this time,” the Lightning’s Steven Stamkos told reporters in Tampa after Game 7. “(The Canadiens) played solid in their first round. We found a way to get it done. Two good teams. I don’t think we worry about anything that happened in the past. Focus on the present and what we have to do.”
I'm just kinda sitting here hoping the Wild win the cup now.
you and me both.
with the overall shit hole of sports that mn is, this would be life completing for me. getting our team back and getting a cup. then we deserve to be the North Stars again

I just agreed with you about the playoffs being a whole different beast, you dolt

you sure did, and you were right to do so (saw your next comment after I posted).
