Tough choice here. Do I want the Caps to get rid of Isles so they are for sure out first and play the Caps yet again or do I want to get rid of our biggest rivals ourselves and enjoy the war of a series?
Also fuck this TV/cable system for cutting off the edges and making me able to watch only middle of screen (only NBC games, not on any other network thankfully)
the 2 teams with the lowest annual ticket sales. Just a shot in the dark here, but I'd guess that would likely be Columbus and Florida Panthers, with Pheomix, Carolina and maybe Nashville in the mix. The California teams do well as long as the team is winning, and same with Tampa and the panthers.
I feel like bettman is more likely to expand to 16 a side, and add a team in Vegas and Seattle or Quebec
With Columbus on the rise, I'm interested in seeing what the crowd looks like when they don't get rocked by injuries and ruin a season

This year, the worst of the bunch was Florida, Carolina, and Arizona.
Nashville sells pretty well vs. capacity, but apparently their arena is below average in seating.
yeah, and that's with Florida being in the mix for a playoff spot up until the final 2 weeks. If you look at the success of the Jets this year, it'd be hard to argue that a team wouldn't succeed in places like Saskatchewan or Wisconsin, where people actually play hockey. But if they do plan to expand to Vegas and Seattle, then that covers the western quota to equalize the conferences.
My table at the casino was dead for about 10 minutes in the second so I could keep glancing up. About all I could watch of the hawks tonight then I went on break for the final 2 minutes. Big win though. Be interesting to see who gets the nod in net

the coyotes were going to relocate to Seattle but their newest ownership wants to keep them in arizona. It blows my mind that Milwaukee doesn't have a professional hockey team.

The commissioner had a lot to say in that as well. The Couotes had 2-3 people interested in relocating them, but in the end Bettman kept the team in arizona. I believe the team changed ownership 2 or 3 times within the state. I dare say after that, they'll remain there for quite some time. Milwaukee has an AHL team don't they? Are they selling out every night? If not, then that could be why they don't have an NHL team. Not filling 5000 seat arneas guarantees they won't be filling 15000 seat arenas. The Halifax moose heads sell out the Metro Center ever game of the season for the last 5 years. A Junior team. Under 19 year old hockey players. 11,000 people a night. Yet Halifax will never have an NHL team.

Put that into perspective.
Milwaukee is Nashville's affiliate and it hardly sells out. I've been there a few times and it's never been too packed. They only I think it was sold out was when I went there for a Rockford game (Chicago's affiliate.) I can't imagine a team doing well in Vegas if one ends up there. I think Seattle would be a much better location as far as in the states.
I'm surprised Halifax doesn't have an AHL team - and that the only one in the Maritimes is St. John NL.
Also, the AHL teams being in the same city as NHL teams seems ridiculous. The team here in Worcester is moving to San Jose, which is understandable considering they want their affiliate closer to California. But why the same city? What about Oakland?
I see another team is moving to Winnipeg, and there are teams in Toronto and Chicago too.
The AHL team in Chicago, the Wolves, goes to St. Louis. The Blackhawks AHL team is in Rockford which is about an hour away so we have two AHL teams in a 60 mile radius of the city. The Wolves never sell out unless its post season because the capacity is around 17,000. It's pretty cool to have to have two teams so close, tickets are cheap and I can see the younger talent play before they get called up. They also do a lot of local free events so I've been able to meet a lot of rookies before making their debut in the NHL.

big hockey markets can handle ahl and NHL teams, but San Jose? Man, that is strange...

I was in Chicago for business last week and went to one of their games for free. (The hotel had a bunch of them.) Playoff game but, yeah, that place was probably about an eighth full. That's a good sized arena, too big for AHL. Still a fun time.
Fucking squeaked by the Sens. 1st times Sens were shutout all season. That early whistle on that goal saved our season. I firmly believe if that counted, send go on to win series.
How we discuss something iportant... The fucking Lightning 2-0!!! I'm hammered and ecstatic. Bring it on Canadiens, y'all can't even spell your nationality correct!!
