I'm personally pretty fine. There were tornadoes in my area (Cypress) this afternoon, but none hit us. Supposedly there was one at the outlet mall, which you can see from the end of my street. I don't think we're in danger of flooding, but I'm not really sure.
If anyone is looking for a place to make donations: a class of mine has started taking them and we can funnel them to the proper channels - www.gofundme.com/positivity-project-harvey-relief I have connections in Dallas and Waco looking for materials of all sorts.
Also, if any of you Houston people get stranded on 45 or need some help on your way to Dallas, casa de la Jones is open to you.

Why must this storm stall out to 3mph right on the coastline? All that does is allows it to collection MORE water to drop and do even more flooding. I hope everyone is staying safe, we are going to feel this storm for several more days and throughout the week.
Yeah and another pumping station is out. I live in Mid City, aka flood zone, and I'm not looking forward to all this rain.
On the bright side: I've been told to work from home tomorrow. I already work from home every Wednesday. I was told to work from home Thursday because of the Saints game. I flex off on Friday. I have Monday off for Labor Day. Long story short - I don't physically have to be in my office until next Tuesday. I will just most likely be stranded in my house, hopefully not under water.
Didnt realize KHOU flooded. But even so, abc13 has shit on the weather channel.
Hope all you southern folks have kept high and dry. Our place in Galveston is high and dry, but were stranded in Alexandria Louisiana till the roads are safe. My office closed the doors until Tuesday which is extreme for them, in the six years ive been there theyve never just closed.
My uncle and his fam live near Houston, just posted this photo of their back yard.
My aforementioned uncle and his family live in Sugarland, and that creek turned river behind their house is going to be taking the levee runoff and they were evacuated to Austin today. Fucking hell.

my sister and brother in law (and their pup and guinea pig) evacuated from their apartment this evening. the water in their parking lot was chest high, but volunteers were able to get them all on a boat and out of there. they made it to a shelter and are going to be picked up by a friend who is in a safer area and has power. i hope that the rest of you are staying safe down there.

Just an update on this, I spoke with several families and area hotels this morning: gas cards are going to be our main focus going forward. Many of the evacuees I spoke with have spent most of their money on hotel fees and are already worrying about the costs of returning home. There are about 150 families housed in my area.
NOLA got lucky. We dodged a HUGE bullet especially since our pumps are not working at all. Kyle, who is at ULL (Lafayette, LA) had to change his clothes 3 times on Monday due to all the rain, and classes were canceled yesterday and today. He is up on the 4th floor, runs to the cafeteria in the morning (between downpours) and afternoon to stock up on food.
Yesterday being the 12 year anniversary of Katrina, with the threat of flooding here again really fucked me up. I feel so bad for all of those that are still stranded, have flooded homes and are having to deal with this. Especially since so many folks from Houston were Katrina refugees. I can't even imagine having to go through all that again.
