I've listened to Clapton a lot more in my life but what I have heard of Simon I love. I saw Clapton in 2005 and he was great then, but that was a long time ago. I saw Simon at Hangout in 11 and it was a really slow show and we ended up leaving early. I do regret leaving though, so I'd like to see him again.
Roger Waters - Arcade Fire - ??? (The Weeknd? RHCP? Kings of Leon? Gorillaz? who knows...) - Beck - The XX - Chance the Rapper - Kygo - Duran Duran - Flume - Pixies - Ryan Adams - The Lumineers - Glass Animals - Deftones
then in no real order..... Schoolboy Q / Anderson .Paak / Joey Badass / Danny Brown / Crystal Castles / Car Seat Headrest / The Front Bottoms / Gaslamp Killer BADBADNOTGOOD / Hudson Mohawke
Throw in some more generic "indie" pop, folky stuff, and singer song writer type music....and that's my idea of an optimistic Bonnaroo 2017.
Why does everyone here complain about the idea of Clapton yet still want Paul Simon?
I will give you 2 answers: -People that have seen both in the last few years know that Clapton is a snoozer live and Simon still has it. -People hate when half of a set is cover songs and their original material is mediocre in comparison to those cover songs.

Is Crystal Castles still good with the new lady? I mean I loved their show in '09, but other than one or two songs from their second album I haven't heard anythin' in years. And those tunes I did hear weren't remarkable.

I like what I've heard from their new album, and they were pretty good when I saw them back in March. It's not really the same without Alice Glass but the new girl does pretty well.

New Bon Iver is great, does it put him at a headliner level, or is he at closing Which level?
Don't do this to yourself.
Am I missing something, how in a thread devoted to the hypothetical postulating of headliners would it be wrong to suggest an individual with a new album who has previously played the festival in a lower billing.
Anyways, I continue to maintain my Daft Punk - Weeknd - MMJ theory, which I think gained some strength with the recent Starboy collab.

Because Bonny Bear said he doesn't want to play shows for Live Nation.
To answer the question though, he'd close the Which and it'd be packed

he also has livenation shows booked. And he'd either pre or co-headline.
I feel like Justin Vernon just talks out of his ass with that kind of stuff to be in a battle of who's more "flannel-y, fuck the industry, mountain man" with Robin Pecknold.

I would love for it to happen. Bon Iver LN which would probably get me back to Roo guaranteed. I just don't expect it to come to fruition. I could be wrong, but I expect a Coachella, FYF, Panorama deal with some smaller stuff sprinkled in. Also I'd expect him to be anywhere from 4-6.
No one in the college demographic knows who the fuck Paul Simon is. Most probably dont even know who Simon and Garfunkel are.

I'll admit I have barely any idea as to who he is. I'm vaguely familiar with S&G, but until I just looked it up now I thought we were all talking about Paul Simonon of The Clash.

Well, playing at a Live Nation venue isn't the same thing as playing a Live Nation event/tour. That said, I think he's full of shit on some level and will turn up at one or two LN fests. Just don't expect him to go full LCD Soundsystem.

usually i'm quick to shit on "slow" LN artists, but with this new record, a LN Which Bon Iver set would be lovely. It would be the opposite of a LN Which Major Lazer set.

This disqualifies you from ever representing your demographic again here.

I thought everyone knew this song.
This song is now stuck in my head. I didn't even have to watch the video, just the image of Paul and Chevy was enough to spark those lyrics.
