Having the stones would be amazing but I don't see how KoL is similar to arcade fire.
By being a modern rock band. Even though their music is different, they fill the same spot if Roo is shooting for diversity in its top 3. It's still definitely possible that both are booked. They would just need the third headliner to be something completely different
That's why I don't see the stones but it seems they haven't been following too closely to an exact formula. 2012, 2013 was legacy rock, mass appeal rock, critic darlings rock (though "critic darling" maybe a little less true in '13 vs '12...)
The Rolling Stones - Arcade Fire - Gorillaz - Beck - Future
I would be very excited for this, but doubt they will book both AF and Gorillaz as headliners. I would be happy if they had either of The Rolling Stones/Metallica at #1 to go with one of AF/Gorillaz...and a solid undercard of course. I know KoL is from Nashville and hasn't played in awhile, but that would be one of the most vanilla headliners Roo has booked in awhile.
I think either one of these would sell fairly well with a solid undercard.
Slayer that year was one of my favorite shows of all time. It was so chaotic, you could move freely around the entire tent because the pit was so big and nobody was standing still.I felt like that was a pretty unique Slayer experience.
That's actually something that Bonnaroo needs to remember. It's cool when you can see a band on the lineup, and be like that's an amazing band, but seeing them at Bonnaroo is going to be a totally different experience. Bands like Tears For Fears, EW&F, or even Paul McCartney. You just get a completely different, if not better experience when you throw them in the Bonnaroo setting. There wasn't anything on the lineup this year that did that. You're not going to get a significantly better Ellie Goulding experience at Bonnaroo than anywhere else.
Yeah Slayer that year was incredible. It was the most love I've ever seen a crowd give any metal band I've seen. And I've seen Slayer 3 other times and none compared to the Roo show.
Shame about the last minute schedule change, I know a lot of people missed it because of that. Also Slayer at midnight would have been incredible-er

Hopefully Bonnaroo continues to not book The Killers. When your fest showcases headliners unopposed, steering clear of putting The Killers at the top of a lineup is probably a good idea.
In terms of how realistic they are? Not at all. Have you seen how many have KoL in them?
Except there are multiple legitimate reasons to think KoL might happen. The best argument for The Killers is that they're a headliner that's always available
