He threw 3 int's but one wasn't his fault it hit the wr's hands, he bobbled and they picked it off. Let's not forget 5 tds, 300 yards passing, almost 100 rushing. Let's not forget how good Louisville's defense is supposed to be. Also let's not forget Watson's record as a starting qb.He has only lost twice. Alabama, where he definitely played well enough to win and a game at GT 2 years ago where he got hurt and didn't finish the game. It was just so frustrating all week to hear all the talk about Jackson like they totally forgot how good Watson is. Now all the talk will be back about him and Clemson because he played better and won the game.
Well, coming into the game Jackson looked like the better player. He came out of nowhere and put up absurd numbers, in TDs, pass YDs, and Rush YDs. As a clemson fan I guess you can be frustrated all you want, but Lamar Jackson had s hiz ton of well-deserved hype coming into that game. People forgot how good Watson was because he hasn't really been that good this year. the clemson offense has been pretty anemic so far this year.
All the talk may be about him and clemson for now, but if you think Watson played better than Jackson you are crazy. You talk about the vaunted clemson D, but he made them look silly at times. threw for 295 yards and ran for another 165. Watson won the game, but Jackson was definitely the better player and I still think he is the leading Heisman candidate at this point.
I started off my post saying that Jackson is the real deal. He's an incredible athlete. He's going to make all defenses look bad. Our defense shut him down in the first half but he played well enough in the 2nd half to win the game. Watson is just a better qb. He's a winner. He's been there and done that. I just thought it was ridiculous how they only focused on what Jackson had done so far this year. Of course what he did was impressive, but there was another great qb in the game that has done amazing things and it was like they forgot about him. Watson had almost the exact stats coming into the game that he had at that point last year. The bigger the games got the bigger his stats got. In this game he did something that only one other qb has done in the past 4 years. "Tim Bourret @timbourret Oct 2 Last 4 years 2 QBs nationwide have had 300 passing yards,5 td passes & 90 yrds rushing in win vs top 10 team, Deshaun Watson & Tajh Boyd". Also it's awesome that Tajh is the only other one to do it. Watson also had those kind of numbers against Bama in the championship game, but lost. He is still the best qb in college football.

also, I was at Tour de Fat drinking beer on saturday and DVR'd the Tennessee game. I turned off notifications from the game day group text with my old college buddies and avoided facebook, inforoo, etc. all day. My sister, the last person I would ever expect to text me about football, sent me a text "I bet you just pooped your pants" around the time the game would have ended. I didn't know how to interpret it, but seeing us behind for most of the game, I assumed that it meant we pulled off something silly to win at the end. Then we got that fumble in the end zone and that interception, and I thought she could have been referring to either of those. then UGA scored with 10 seconds left and I thought "oh. that's what she was talking about." and I did full-on surrender cobra in my living room and collapsed in despair. And then Jauan Jennings blew my quacking mind. The wife and I went absolutely nuts. That is not something that happens to Tennessee. If Dooley were our coach we'd have gotten a flag for too many men on the field or something.

Imagine being at the game as a UGA student....
For sure. I wanted to be more vehement with celebration, but I couldn't fully divorce myself from how awful Georgia fans had to have felt especially since Tennessee specializes in heartbreakers.
I have never experienced such a swing in attitude in my life. The stadium was basically a riot after we scored that TD and then to be let down so hard. I have been sick at my stomach all week about it.
Turns out this season is going to be another injury filled dumpster fire, even worse than last year
It looks like our active QBs for Saturday include a not ready for the big time true freshmen they wanted to red shirt, a walk-on scout teamer, and 2nd string TE who played backup QB in high school.
Our once formidable RB core is now the beginning of the season 4th stringer that is in about as good shape as I am, a WR who has a penchant for dropping the ball, and another WR who took his first practice snap at RB or his career Monday.
We came back just enough to break my heart. All those turnovers killed us but it was great seeing our guys fight to the end. I think that forced fumble might be my favorite play of the season. Foreman has had some mental errors but chasing the RB own is the kind of effort you see from someone who has fully bought in. People can question some of butch's coaching decisions, but he's got these guys believing in each other. Even with all the injuries our D kept us in that game at the end. I kept waiting for them to break and us to go down by 21 again but they never did. Barnett was in beast mode. I saw source (maybe rucker?) That said JRM college career is over. Getting surgery than gonna rehab for the draft. Feels like maggitt all over again.

Oregon seems to be the next to fire their head coach. What are the chances they can convince Chip to come back? If he signals interest there, does Texas or Baylor move on that interest? Will be interesting to watch. Also wonder how much Clay Helton can do to solidify his job.

I read a similar story re: Reeves-Maybin. It was his bicep that was actually injured. He tried rehab with no success, so he has to do the surgery. Being a senior, he's pretty much guaranteed to go for the draft after this season. Sadly, his situation does reflect Maggitt. A guy who would probably have gone late second day in the draft comes back for his senior season to improve his draft stock, gets injured and will probably go undrafted now. I feel for the guy.
Well that was unexpected. O'Brien dismissed from the team due to a violation of team rules. Tennessee is covering his medical expenses in relation to his injury from Saturday still which seems like a good thing but should probably be expected.

Probably drugs. He was suspended last year for "violation of team rules."

Yeah. Makes me wonder if something came up when they took him to the hospital Saturday.

My great aunt and her husband have season tickets for VT football & basketball (although supposedly this is the last year they're getting them). Found out today my brother and I have their tickets for the Miami Thursday night game next week!
