I guess I'm lucky because every fest I've been to there's always bands I want to see. Probably too many, because I want to go early, stay all day and do a late night if possible. Yea, I get tired, but it's fun,it's my favorite thing to do. I can rest later.
I respect your approach but I'm also not going to do it haha.
My wife hates it sometimes, because she can't keep up. Especially the late nights. She says she can't do them anymore and I'm like I'm six years older than you! haha.

The daily schedule is making my interest go down a bit for this. I know I would be getting into town late Friday morning after some wee-hours of travel, and I'm not sure what my energy level would be for running back and forth to see show after show...the majority of what I want to see is on Friday. In 2015 I caught a Megabus in the middle of the night Thursday, arrived in ATL around 9:30 Friday morning, maybe got 3 hours of sleep and went into the festival. Had to miss the Pixies because I was totally drained after The Kooks -> Mac Demarco -> TV on the Radio. Plus I don't like the idea of just chilling out for the majority of Saturday, as the only act that excites me for that day who I haven't seen before is Sylvan Esso.
If my festival group decides to pull the trigger on it I would be in, but I am less motivated to get the ball rolling on it and won't be making a solo trip like I did in 2015.
Some criticism: the Piedmont stage is certainly too small to fit Cage the Elephant, and the Ponce stage is probably too small to fit the Revivalists and FIDLAR. Other than that looks good.
So far it's not looking like Friday will actually be all that bad for me, as long as I can see The Growlers, Wolf Parade, and LCD I'm happy with that (Cage, Pixies, Porgual, and Highly Suspect are all skippable to me, although I'd like to see Pixies because I didn't last time).
Saturday is about to be full of conflicts for me no matter what because I have varying levels of wanting to see Lewis Del Mar, Foreign Air, Bishop Briggs, Anderson East, Shovels & Rope, Catfish, The Revivalists, Moon Taxi, Sylvan Esso, Dr. Dog, and Nick Murphy and I know there are going to have to be some pretty bad conflicts between those.

With them cutting it down to three stages, I was thinking they could upsize the Piedmont stage (last time they had 3 stages, they had the second biggest act of the day on the second biggest stage to maximize crowd displacement/movement) and having big shows like Cage at the same time would allow bands like FIDLAR and the Revivalists to play the Ponce.
I never really understand when people say they're skipping half of a day of a fest they've already paid for. I am always up for full days at a fest. If there's time where I don't care much for the acts, that's when I take a step back, grab some food and chill out somewhere for a bit.
This makes me very happy to be going to two fests with you this year. Now, what's your feeling on late night shows?
So so. Depends on when the fest ends/the late night starts, and how much I like the artist/band. If the late nights don't start until midnight or after, and I don't LOVE who's playing- no bueno para mi. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ I need sheer joy from the artist or something else to keep me up.
On any given day, I don't do well after midnight. At a festival where the late night shows are one and the same with the festival I can stay up later because I it's about wandering around and I can do what I want, go to bed when I want... Sometimes I can stay up relatively late (for me). A festival with late nights that require further travel, additional money, possible splitting from the crew (and start times later than NFF)... I'll need a favorite to be playing to reel me in.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I'm in bed by 8:30 most week nights. I have no problem staying up for shows though, it's weird.
I think you forgot PUP on Friday. Also that Pixies, Cage the Elephtant and Fidlar overlapping would not be ideal for me.
It would be ideal for exactly no one - it made me upset just looking at it. I'm upset.
Ha, well, they all definitely have different core fan bases. Well they may have some overlap, the one that I could see having a ton of overlap is basically all of FIDLAR's fans wanting to see Pixies, but that's ok because, as everyone in here has said, that stage is really too small for FIDLAR anyway and that would leave just their biggest fans to really enjoy that show and then the poppies fans can go to Cage. That was one of the more concerning conflicts to me and it still makes sense.

The viewing area of the Piedmont stage (which was the Ponce stage last year) is severely limited (and the Ponce stage (which was the Buford stage last year) is even way smaller). Here's some pictures from last year, and it's also important to note that soundbleed in between the Peachtree and Piedmont stages is also bad in a lot of areas from the festivals that have both playing at the same time, which limits viewing areas even more. Last year the biggest bands to play on that stage were Decemberists and Young the Giant and if I remember correctly the stage was pretty full during those sets.
And I get what you're saying but last year Lany filled the Buford Stage (now Ponce) just about to capacity even with that set being at the same time as both Foals and the Decemberists.

as I've said multiple times in this thread, I'm a huge Cage and Fidlar fan, I've seen Fidlar 3 times and Cage once, it'll kill me if I have to skip Fidlar (for Cage or any act I haven't seen yet) but I need to see Cage again. I like Pixies well enough, but I could easily skip them for other acts. personally.

Oh I see myself in one of those photos! Side note: that was a really fun set. Probably my favorite set of that day tbh.
But yeah, that medium (ponce) stage kind of sucks and I can't imagine how full the viewing areas for that stage will be now that there's less stages / less room for people to spread out across and presumably a similar amount of people attending.

Crystal Fighters was a lot of fun, I only caught the last 15-20 minutes of that set because they were a conflict with July Talk and the Sword.
Oh, and if anyone's interested, I've been working on building a 1:1 scale model of Centennial Olympic Park and the surrounding areas in Minecraft. So far I've got all of the park built, the whole small stage area, the Ferris wheel, Philips arena, Omni hotel, embassy suites, and that yellow-ish building that's right next to where the bridge of death goes, whatever that is. I'll post some screenshots later if anyone wants to see it.
Dude, that is amazing! My son and I play a ton of Minecraft together, and I play a lot after he goes to bed. Would love to play your map when you're done.

I don't think I'll ever be "done" with this, well at least until I'm done building all of Atlanta but that'll be a few years from now. I'll upload the current save file to Dropbox next time I get a chance, maybe tonight.
I obviously need to look into Minecraft a little further. I knew it was a super popular computer game, but had no idea about building your own stuff? And sending it to others?

Yeah, the entire game is based around creating things. People create servers too that others join. My friend once had this awesome Hunger Games one where people would basically fight to the death in this huge world. It's a really diverse game actually. I think the biggest thing I ever built was Plastic Beach from the Gorillaz cover.
