I am seeing some good performers/musicians in those mocks that would definitely be great at Hangout 2018. Lukas Nelson and the Real was awesome. Gary Clark Jr would be awesome, again. ALT-J, Royal Blood, The XX, The Orwells, The London Souls, Moon Taxi would be nice to see on the beach. Still holding out for Sturgill, Nate Ratliffe, TTB, and others on my mock. I know there is going to be plenty of EDM, rap, hip hop, and 14-34 age group stuff, but hoping 2018 lineup has some soul, blues, folks, and other genres represented.
2024: The Floozies, Phyphr, Disco Biscuits, Cimafunk, WSMFP, The Killers, Cory Wong, Dumpstaphunk, Bomba Estereo, Molly & Golden Hwy, Big Freedia, Payton/Nth Power, A.P&TFN

I love Chance too, and would also love Nate rate and Sturgill Simpson. I hope they have some soul this coming year. In every sense of the word. Moon taxi has already played hangout 38 times, though, so I'm fine with something different. Expect glass animals and cage the elephant way up top.

Bob Nathaniel Rateliff, Alt-J, Royal Blood, and Sturgill Simpson are all pretty high on my hopes for next year as well! Maybe we'll get some good luck on them!

9:18 mark on for about a minute. Is that another song? I think it's an interpolation. Zeppelin? Santana? Van Halen?
I need to crowdsource inforoo. Haha.
I can't place it. I'm not sure if it's an improv of their own stuff or not.
It's probably their own and just super similar but it bothers me every time I listened to it because my kind keeps wanting it to play into another song so it's like a melody change thought loop. Haha.

Unfortunately it looks like I can't afford Hangout next year if I do Coachella (which I can't miss). If my music comes out in a timely fashion, who knows maybe me and PJ can play

Doobies and Chicago were excellent. Nashville last two concerts more of a snooze city than music City. VIP totally mismanaged, but I had a good time.
Wanted to clarify, I had a great time. The music quality was over the top and being on the fourth row center was amazing. The crowd at Ascend the last two shows has just sat on their hands, drank beer, and dunno. Me and a few folks around me danced our arses off last night, standing, clapping, rocking out. I turned around and it is crickets. We were the only people out of thousands standing and getting into it. I am not a lip reader but members of both bands were like WTF? And the crowd was a pretty good mix of demographics. I only saw them get up for like three of the last Doobie songs. Don't people realize musicians-performers thrive on the energy from a crowd and you are going to get one heck of a better show if you show you like it?
There were like three or four VIP activities going on all at the same time. Directions to where you were supposed to be, meet, credentials, etc., were unknown by all the staff. They were constantly looking for people who had answers. The Ascend security folks were great but clueless. It was confusing because some VIP sat in one place, had food and drinks, got photos, and some only got pieces and parts. I wish it were a law that if you offer a product like VIP for a festival or concert you have to be pretty dang clear with what you are giving folks for that kind of money. Saying you are providing "food and drinks" has to be clarified to "pizza, BBQ, miller beer products, chips, and cookies" and not showing up to find bottled water and peanuts. Or Krispy Kreme doughnuts...LOL.
The photo, water bottle, coasters, poster, and seats were great. I would rather have my choice of the four $40 Doobie Brothers T-Shirts vice water bottle and coasters. For $350, we should have got a beer. No such luck.
But, all in all, I have been lucky to scratch a lot of bucket list items off. Even playing with JD at Hangout Music Festival was top shelf stuff. 2018 can't come soon enough. Tickets tomorrow...GA all the way.

Hey CheesedickOrDie76, what were you drinking, smoking, or eating before you listened to the Umph show? I'm thinking weed might be Zeppelin. Cuervo might be Santana. And draft beer and hot dog Van Halen. I hear a lot of riffs in performances. thebrewdude and I were hearing Sturgill Simpson playing riffs from everybody from Pink Floyd to Stevie Ray Vaughn. No drugs...must have been the seafood and beer.
