I've been mostly caught up with 2017 Recap to dig into many albums beyond one or two listens but I'll just let Bjork have it because that record is fucking great
HM: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Sufjan Stevens Sharon Jones Gunn-Trusckinski Duo Anna St. Louis
Not a metal guy but I do plan on checking out this Converge album after everyone's praise of it. Caught a bit of them at Boston Calling and wasn't crazy about it, but I'll give 'em a fair shot

Is voting today or next week? Very lackluster month for me. It's a very close call between SYRE and Bibio. Yaeji had a great release but just an EP...
For all the faults of SYRE (lyrics, too much filler), it's is the only album I can actually recall as standing out for me. The production was incredible and Jaden was actually very solid in his execution. Excited for whatever he does next.
HM to Bjork, James Holden, Sufjan, Baths. I try really hard to like Bjork, and I did love seeing her live at Bonnaroo, but her albums just aren't something I can spend a lot of time with.
5.5/four tet, daphni b2b floating points, avalon emerson 5.12/neil young 5.19/mannequin pussy 5.21/serpentwithfeet 5.25/hozier 6.12-16/bonnaroo 6.28/goose 6.29/goose 9.17/the national + the war on drugs 9.23/sigur ros 9.27-29/making time 10.17/air
I think in 2018 we should probably just officially make it the first Sunday of the following month. Give people the weekend that way.
The only concern I have with that would be when the month ends on a Friday or Saturday. Then you only have two days to vote, including the final Friday's releases.
My suggestion would be the Sunday following the first Friday of the month. That way it's a week plus a weekend. If my math is right, that gives nine days - regardless of the day of the month the last Friday falls on - to listen to albums and vote.

My pick: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Polygondwanaland HM: Björk - Utopia Charlotte Gainsbourg - Rest Greta Van Fleet - From The Fires James Holden & The Animal Spirits – The Animal Spirits Vulfpeck - Mr Finish Line Converge - The Dusk In Us Petit Biscuit - Presence Peter Oren - Anthropocene Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings - Soul Of A Woman Prins Thomas - Prins Thomas 5
I might put a vote out there some time next week, but doubtful a top ten. I've spent all my free time at work narrowing down my year end best of 2017 list and this month obviously was meh. My vote doesn't have to count
