Korn fucking sucks. I liked some nu-metal back in the day, but never Korn. #neverkorn
That's a weird line to draw given some of their counterparts. They were at least in before the even more stale versions of butt-rock bands Trapt all of rock radio.
I mean, my nu-metal phase lasted maybe two years, sixth and seventh grade, and was mostly Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park, with some P.O.D., Staind and Puddle of Mudd in there. But I pretty quickly moved on to Tool, NIN, and Manson.
I still like System of a Down, though. Mostly just the first three albums.
I'm 33. 7-8 years have passed since Jay-Z was doing fests I think? This decade is a blur to me and I tend to forget all of the audience turnover since he was last active. I've taught groups older than young inforoo at this point.
The Coachella mainstage in 2010 that ran Them Crooked Vultures > LCD > Jay-Z is forever one of my favorite nights of music.
You were 14 when Follow The Leader came out, lol. People talking about nostalgia for them are probably your age, you know.

That was in response to Childish Gambino, not Korn.
Fleetwood Mac - Foo Fighters - Frank Ocean - Muse Bassnectar & Pretty Lights - Odesza - Childish Gambino - The National Run the Jewels - Korn - Fleet Foxes - Foster the People - Bonobo Weezer - Griz - Cut Copy - Danny Brown - Young the Giant - Jimmy Eat World Bleachers - Phantogram - Mura Masa - Russ - Vulfpeck - Electric Guest - Brand New -
Too many subs, also Brand New would be 2 or 3 lines higher

SOAD was cool. I was big into stuff like Deftones and Rammstein. I got out around the time those like Puddle of Mud and Buckcherry came around. It got ugly quick.
I also used to play my own butt-rock. I had an afro and wore wristbands
Here I am in senior year form, pseudo-screams and all:

I saw KoRn back in '98, and they were one of the least impressive bands on the tour lineup (and they were headlinin'). That's not to say they were a bad show, but Incubus blew my mind, Limp Bizkit came out swingin', and Rammstein is fuckin' Rammstein. Orgy was just okay.
Today there's only one band from that lineup that I will throw money at.

SOAD>Deftones>Chevelle>Staind>Korn first album>Limp Bizkit I think that's all the "nu metal" I ever listened to. I wouldn't really put Incubus in the same category.
I don't like the new QOTSA as much as any of the previous on first listen and a half. Maybe it will grow on me.

I had never given RTJ much of my time but after hearing you guys hype them up over the past 2 years I decided to give them a listen this morning. Can't stop listening. I'm all in on Run the Jewels.
I don't hate it, but it just didn't really meet the high standard SFTD met way back when. I was also higher on the TCV than Clockwork. That's not to say it's bad, Homme just has a stacked catalog. This album feels much more focused than that effort. Each song can stand on its own and be a top five track on their last.

I never cared for Korn but I saw them at Alice Cooper's Christmas Pudding in December and they weren't terrible. Not something I'd see on its own but they exceeded my extremely low expectations. Seemed like nice dudes. Definitely more engaged with people than Gin Blossoms, who were also on the bill and were abyssmal. Now Hollywood Vampires, who headlined the show, would be fantastic. Can't decide where they'd be billed. Alice played at tent. Would the addition of Depp and Perry get them to Which?

I second that, Metallica is awesome, I can understand people not liking them, but what I'm confused about is you putting Cake on there, fuck outta here with that. Also unpopular opinion but... Panic is amazing.
Cake is bad live. Or at least the performance at Music Midtown 2013
I thought their set was great at Roo, also that 2013 music midtown lineup is golden.
I really enjoyed Gambino's first mixtape, Culdesac. It has some pretty good punchlines on it. Camp and Because the Internet didn't do a whole lot for me, but I enjoyed Awaken My Love. When it comes to his music, he's always seemed to me like one of those people who could be an absolute legend IF he was just a bit more talented. And by that I mean that he has creative ideas and an incredible work ethic and I think he truly does approach his music as an overall artist and not just a rapper, but there's a certain ceiling that he can't overcome, so his projects tend to be just good and not great. Sometimes very good... But still not great. He has moments of brilliance but I don't seem him sustaining that brilliance over the course of an entire project. It almost makes me feel bad for him because I think he's THIS CLOSE to being where he wants to be...but he just can't break through. A lot of good ideas but flawed execution.
I loved the first few seasons of community and 30 rock, though I haven't seen Atlanta. And his stand-up was just okay.
culdasac is great but isn't his frist. Sick Boi and like two others were before. And I'm the opposite. I really fell in love with him when he dropped Camp, played album all the way through everyday. Still his best. And because the Internet is amazing. Really not a fan of the last two he's gone downhill.

I must disagree. "Camp" is still my favorite, but I'm not very familiar with his mix tapes. But "Awaken My Love" is fuckin' dope McNasty. Other than "California," the album is straight gold.
