I may be the only one who cares, but The New Pornographers are playing Brooklyn Steel on November 7.
I care, so thanks for the heads up on that. It's been a minute since I last saw them so I think I will hit this one.
If you go to the official web site and click "sign up" next to the date in question, you'll be lined up to be sent a code for tomorrow's artist presale.

I saw that, but since it is all GA and I don't think this will be that quick a sell, I will spare my email more spam and just get it during AMEX presale.
Man, I wanted to buy a ticket to the New Pornographers but AXS needs some work in their website interface, was not intuitive at all to change the billing/shipping address, and when I did find it, the change would not stick. Ended up deleting the card and re-entering it, but got the ticket, fortunately this is not a quick sell show.

Not sure if you're ever around midtown but for shows that are not quick sells, you can buy tickets fee-free at the Playstation Theater box office. I don't think New Pornographers sold out T5 last time they were here and I imagine their audience is growing older and they aren't picking up many new fans (which is sad since they're great) so can't see this show being a tough ticket even if it does end up selling out.
Speaking of music that older people are into, Wilco announced a date at Brooklyn Steel the night after their Radio City show which is a nice intimate-ish spot to see them in. Babysitter rates in Park Slope will be through the roof that weekend.

Not sure if y'all saw, but Forest Hills is doing a 4-tickets-for-$99 sale for all their upcoming shows. There are SO MANY tickets in the bowl still available for Chemical Brothers and My Morning Jacket. Seems like it'd be a hell of a time to buy if one were interested.

If anyone likes Chvrches but doesn't want to see them in that soul-sucking building Radio City, they're also playing a free show at Pioneer Works on Friday.

So, question for the floor: A friend of mine was talking to someone who works for Forest Hills Stadium, and they said that just about every show this year has been and is pretty heavily undersold...which continues the trend from last year, when they were straight-up giving tickets away to some of these shows. I'm wondering what folks' opinions are as to why. It's such a fantastic venue in which to see a show, and while one could argue lineup quality, a trend lasting this much time strikes me as about more than just the acts being booked. Is it that it's hard to get to? I live in Astoria, so it's not that hard for me, but I've had a couple of friends comment along those lines. Food and drink are pretty expensive, but I don't know that that'd be enough to sink things given that they're expensive every-damn-where in NYC.

I dunno. Thoughts?
It's a great venue but it's not centrally located which I think discourages a lot of people from coming out there. I also think it's a case of Bowery Presents being extremely ambitious in their bookings and trying to put acts who can't fill a 14k place (Death Cab For Cutie, Nathaniel Rateliff, The Head & The Heart, Belle & Sebastian, etc). Sometimes acts can play MSG even if they don't play arenas because it's centrally located and a lot of people want to come in to the city proper. Queens is a totally different story and can take over an hour to get there by subway which is extremely discouraging for many people. It's the same reason why sometimes an act can sell out MSG but struggle to fill, say, the Prudential Center 20 miles outside the city. The other thing I've noticed is that Forest Hills has gotten a few acts on their second time around during a given album cycle. Death Cab, for example, played Brooklyn 3 times in a 2 month period last fall so I think many people got it out of their system, even if Jenny Lewis was the opener.
Food/drinks can be expensive but I don't think that's a deal breaker. If they want better attendance, they need to try to sway tours that usually would be playing Jones Beach/PNC to come there rather than trying to upgrade the acts that normally would play Radio City/Summerstage/Prospect Park.

Maybe the early curfew plays into things as well? Though you'd think that's a bonus since you could still go out a d do other things late night.
I've liked the venue a lot but that's because it's so easy to get to for me and less time than traveling to manhattan or Brooklyn. Not a fan of the bleacher seats tho

I think it has more to do with its huge capacity at ~14k. That's borderline arena capacity (MSG/Barclays are ~19k) with a lineup that I view as more of a next step after Central Park Summerstage (~2k) or Prospect Park Bandshell.
