I know it's expensive for the Strokes, but for a Barclays NYE show the prices were relatively cheap and relatively egalitarian...anyway, with pricing factors being the same I will go for a good seat over standing on the floor, with a couple of exceptions, so I picked up a pretty good seat in Sec 124 on AMEX presale (didn't go to GovBall this year).
I had a chance to score floor tix, but $216 was too much for me to spend right now and figured I'll be better financially by the end of the year in which I can afford the resell prices.
Both of MMJ's Red Rocks shows were over 2.5 hours, with the Forest Hills curfew they really should've ditched the opener and done one massive show
That being said these shows sound fantastic, the band and Jim seem looser than the last couple tours. Should be a fucking great one on Saturday
I am so excited for this show that it’s stupid. It’s tough, though - the 2017 set list might as well have been put together by me, seeing as it included literally every one of my favorite MMJ songs. That’s going to be hard to top this time around. I just have to force myself to let go of that one and embrace whatever awesomeness the band bestows on us with open arms.
That setlist was great, but I still have a few other songs I'm hoping play this time. Would love to get at least one of Touch Me Pt. 1, At Dawn, Bermuda Highway, It Beats 4 U, and Like a River
Also they played 27 minute versions of both Dondante and Steam Engine at Red Rocks...
Bummed to be missing the Cap show, but I'm helping out with a friend's comedy show that night
Holy shit is that the going rate for arena shows these days?! I've been spoiled by only seeing Phish and smaller acts in the past few years I guess
New York arena shows are more expensive than elsewhere in the country. And the exclusivity of seeing The Strokes on NYE in their hometown raises the prices even more.
I'm not in the city for NYE so not even an option for me but, that being said, it'd have to be a much more exciting band live than The Strokes to spend $200 on for NYE.
Everyone is just pricing at the secondary market rate these days. Can't blame em for that.
What’s really happening is that artists are starting prices high at the presale then moving prices down as time goes on because the biggest fans will want tickets first and also be willing to pay the most for them. I would bet nearly any amount of money you’d be able to get into this show for around $50 at some point in time.

Has anybody here sat way in the back at Barclays Center before? I keep reading stories about how the seats in the 200 level are too steep, but if the sound is still good that wouldn't personally matter.

Was near the back of 217 for Kendrick a couple years ago and the sound comes through just fine

I've sat about fourth row from the top in the 200s (edit: was sec 222, row 17)...it's really high, after that one time I will only ever do the first couple of rows in that level, if I had to. Don't remember the sound being particularly great.
Prices are high for The Strokes because of New Year's but it's not as high overall as past NYE shows there.

I know full well NY prices, I've lived in this area my entire life. The problem here is the band. Phish only charges $100 for MSG NYE while other bands are charging more then double

It doesn't help that The Strokes are more interested in lifestyle maintenance rather than staying friends/creating new music.
Bands like Phish and Radiohead are anomalies nowadays in that they don't charge the actual fair market value of their tickets.
I've got two tickets to the Cage/Beck show at Forest Hills next Saturday, but won't be able to go. Looking to get face for them if anyone is interested. (Sec 202 row BB).
Anybody know where exactly the Crumb show in East River Park will be located tonight? The NYC parks website makes it seem like it's in the area along Houston, but there's an amphitheater about half a mile south of that so I don't want to end up in the wrong spot and miss a chunk of the show.
These show always take place at the amphitheater, so would be surprised if tonight was any different.
It’s one of my favorite venues in the city, wish they had shows there more often. Also, it’s been byob every time I’ve gone (last was 2017 so not sure if they cracked down).
