Mac DeMarco just played SummerStage last night and today announced a show at Brooklyn Steel on 9/19. Seems like a really quick turnaround
Dude never stops touring. He’s relentless.
Aaaand, he was just announced as the opener for the Strokes on NYE.
I have to admit, I'm disappointed. I'm not a big Mac DeMarco fan, and given the Strokes' tendency toward shorter sets, I was hoping for an opener that would knock my socks on my ass.

UPCOMING SHOWS 5/14 - Neil Young & Crazy Horse @ Forest Hills 6/8 and maybe 6/9 - Governors Ball 8/17 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ Forest Hills 9/4 - Pearl Jam @ MSG 9/7 - Pearl Jam @ Wells Fargo Center 9/11 - St. Vincent @ Brooklyn Paramount
Anybody know where exactly the Crumb show in East River Park will be located tonight? The NYC parks website makes it seem like it's in the area along Houston, but there's an amphitheater about half a mile south of that so I don't want to end up in the wrong spot and miss a chunk of the show.
What time did it end? I rode that path as part of my ride tonight sometime between 11:15 -11:45 and the entire stretch showed no signs of crowd

A huge storm rolled in right before Crumb was supposed to take the stage, so I booked it out of there once the lightning started. Can't imagine many people stuck it out since there was no shelter and they were already having some major technical issues with the previous band.
Haim are doing a free show at Pier 17 on August 20th for Chase cardholders. Tickets went "onsale" this morning but I wasn't fast enough : (
If you're interested, they're listing for like $18 on Stubhub which I realize isn't free but still probably much cheaper than this show would normally be.

I don't believe in an afterlife, but if there is a Good Place, mine is probably just My Morning Jacket playing the jam at the end of "Phone Went West" on a perfect summer night at Forest Hills Stadium for all eternity.

Ah awesome thanks for the heads up, that's totally doable!
What are some of the best concerts between now and the end of the month? I wanna do one more NYC/Brooklyn jaunt before I go back to school.
Haim are playing a show on 8/20 at Pier 17 that's free to Chase card holders. Because it's free, I guess, the tickets on Stubhub are very cheap - $21 before fees, currently.

Any theories/insider info about who the special guest will be Sunday night at Afropunk? I've got my fingers crossed for Lizzo, but that may be wishful thinking.

So on the fence about this Haim show tomorrow. The weather has cleared up, and $24 after fees is a pretty cheap ticket at Pier 17.
For perspective, seeing Haim at the sterile Radio City was at least $50 plus so this is a better option to see them in a general admission environment.
Black Mountain just announced two dates. One at the Bowery and one at the Knitting Factory: Any opinion on which venue is better to catch the show? (I've never been to knitting factory)

Bowery's the better venue, but Knitting Factory might have the better crowd energy for them. Also Kikagaku Moyo play Warsaw the day of the Bowery show, so...

Tame Impala was great at MSG last week. It was a rare instance of a band playing an arena without (much) new material so everything was basically a crowd pleaser.
