Downtown Pomona has a ton of public lots. They used to be free and unfortunately aren't anymore, but it's only like two bucks and at self-service pay machines. Driving there will probably suck, but you'll be home in 30-40 mins.
Debating trying to see Idles and Mannequin Pussy at Pappy and Harriets before driving in. We could even camp in Pioneertown. Would be a really cool night but tbd
Got approval from the wife, we're going to try to make this happen.
Anybody been to Pappy & Harriets? The whole Pioneertown atmosphere looks amazing.

I've been a couple of times, saw Unknown Mortal Orchestra there. The food at Pappy & Harriets is good, I would recommend making a dinner reservation soon and just hanging having drinks after dinner until the show. Pioneertown is cute but unimpressive, like a little fake town street where they made old Westerns. You'll be close to Joshua Tree so I would take at least a couple of hours to drive around the park.
That tour was scheduled to end March 3, I’d be surprised if she didn’t recover by Coachella
And 4 weeks to recover. Next shows are Coachella. She’ll be ready. The uk tabloids even went as far to say she cancelled Glastonbury cause they need click bait.

Thanks, we don't land in LA until 2:30 Thursday afternoon, so Joshua Tree may be out of the question.
We did Thursday night at Coachella when we went in 2016 (and at least 4 Wednesday nights at Bonnaroo) so I know what we're missing there. I'm excited to switch it up and see a show in the middle of nowhere with Coachella looming the next day.

Agree. A fantastic and intimate venue with good food. It does get quite crowded and the dinner reservation is smart. Joshua Tree is one of my favorite places. Make a day out of it: tour Joshua Tree National Park, hang out in Pioneer Town, dinner and a show.
Edit - Well, maybe you can check out JT next time.

Yeah you'll enjoy it. It's an outdoor show, so bring a light jacket.
Presale is sold out. GV hitting on all cylinders with their small niche fests selling out in an hour.
This is where the “festival bubble” burst leads to right? People will prefer to spend their money on going to these single genre/audience festivals as there are going to be more things that align with their taste in music.

I think so. Coachella keeps the varied music taste at about $150 a day for 7-9 stages, art.
Then you have these festivals at 150-170 a day for 3 stages, minimal production but if you love that genre you’re gonna have a great time. And really only GV/AEG can do this cause the backing. I remember schoolboy Q commentating at DNV “Whoever goldenvoice is they got money. When I got the offer I was like they paying this for just 30 minutes?! For the 30?!”
The shift to smaller single-genre festivals makes me sad.
Ditto, though they'd stopped booking many of these acts for the big fests awhile ago anyhow so I suppose it's better than nothing. I don't really understand why they don't sprinkle like 3-5 these acts per year into fests like Coachella, though.

yup. with the package deals they can get an easy 6 shows out of pretty much any artist they want aside from Headliners. (LA x 2, SD, SF, Coachella x 2, then other fests like these niche ones or Flog Gnaw).
they're just as bad as Live Nation, they just don't seem like it cause they book better artists and have cooler festivals.

They’ll run out of niche line ups soon enough. There’s a reason why most of these festivals don’t have a 2nd edition.
It’s gonna be a while. Even once they run out they’ll just go back and rebook some of the ones they already did with some repeats, some new acts. I always thought I’d never bother with these genre fests but Cruel World almost made me change my mind and if they did an electro/blog house fest I’d probably fly down for that.
Genre fests started making some noise years ago and I’m surprised GV is the only one really taking advantage of their success. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t see Live Nation or anybody else doing this besides butt rock fests.
I want them to just go full circle and make traveling fests out of the niche genre one days.
Like Vans Warped Tour? (Is that still active?)
Warped tour ended 2 years ago. They had a special 25th anniversary set of shows last year and that was it. Its a shame because a lot of acts on those line ups really depended on being on it every couple of years despite not getting the best pay. But all the lawsuits and rule changes took its toll and cost effectiveness of putting it on.
