I was sitting here thinking “kinda hard to believe Ginuwine has other more urgent plans that day” but sure enough, he’s got the 90s Kickback concert at Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium that day. Can’t disappoint all this those fans in Shreveport.
They’ll run out of niche line ups soon enough. There’s a reason why most of these festivals don’t have a 2nd edition.
Genre fests started making some noise years ago and I’m surprised GV is the only one really taking advantage of their success. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t see Live Nation or anybody else doing this besides butt rock fests.
they cornered the market.

Go look at the list of one day niche fests theyve done the last 5 years and most of em have sold out. And yeah, see what other promoter is doing this, and nobody else is.

Theyre more pre occupied with EDC and like Country Mega Ticket. I mean theyre backing Chain Fest and have Krush Groove. But theres always some hip hop fest with Ice Cube on it in LA every year.
edit: and Re: LN not really doing these kinds of things. They had that MC Hammer Party tour last year, which went everywhere and was on groupon a week after onsale, GV has mastered the art of making things an EVENT and not cheapening the experience.
LiveNation tried to replicate Desert Trip with the "Classic East/West" fests. So I'm sure they could try to do what GV is doing with these other niche fests, I just suspect they wouldn't do it nearly as well.
Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide
