Dead & Co or Phish would be so weird to see on a Coachella poster.
Dead is currently fashionable enough to make it work. Maybe not a good idea if the other two are Travis Scott and LDR, but if they put up a couple Rihanna/Kanye/JT level draws, I think Dead and Co would actually do just fine at Coachella.

Oh I agree it's not impossible or anything, Dead is just a very different kind of legacy act than they've spent the last 20 years booking.
Would they actually go after a recycled legacy act though?
I feel like eventually they're not really gonna have a choice.
Would have thought this before too, but seems like now (more than ever) they are about coming up with something new and different. Would still be cool of them to throw a curveball and include something more out of the ordinary. Their time is obviously limited with some of these older acts, if they even care.
Would still be rad of them to go all in on Maiden like PT mentioned in the past. Surely AC/DC and GnR won’t be the last.

No, GnR will be the last.
I think Fleetwood Mac would be the best get if they wanted to go the legacy route again.

I mean, they’re one of the highest grossing live bands out there and are in the middle of the pop culture resurgence right now. They have a dedicated base of wealthy die hards that will pay lots of money to see them at new and interesting places, but would also appeal to the type of attendee who’d find cache in doing drugs and graming themselves at the set in their crispy fresh tie dye. They only play 2.5-3 hour sets these days, so no unreasonable demands on that front.
Ya, it’d be a disaster what a stupid idea. Let’s talk about Elton John some more.
A My Chemical Romance reunion is more likely than Dead & Co.
Now I don’t disagree with that, I just don’t want to waste anymore time talking about MCR. If GV wanted Dead Co it’s much more likely they’d try to build a one off event around them. They’d still be a good choice here though.
imo Halsey could sub but I don’t think that’s really a popular opinion.
By no means am I a Halsey fan (so I have no reason to defend her), but typically when an act plays arenas throughout the country they command a headliner spot. I don’t even think one should question whether she would sub at this point. I really have no knowledge her outside of knowing she’s played some big venues in the past.

Looks like there's been plenty of stupid discussion going on here lately. Nice.
I truly believe now that Elton's been excluded that the days of the legacy headliner are behind us. I'm not gonna speculate whether or not this is a good idea for the fest. Dead & Co is not happening.
I didn’t bring up jam bands, but the idea that bands who aren’t in the certified GV headliner pool aren’t up for discussion is silly. I literally just close this thread and look away every time the fucking Rihanna convo comes up.
