BTS supposedly playing LA for Jingle Ball in November. This has to rule them out officially right?
A plethora of people landed at Coachella who played Flog Gnaw in November of last year. (Billie Eilish, Tierra Whack, Turnstile, Men I Trust, Jaden Smith, Playboi Carti, Pusha T and somewhat Cudi) . don't think November would rule anyone out? Unless it's strictly for headliner caliber acts.

The only Jingle Ball act to play Coachella the last four years as far as I can tell was Khalid, so they’re not out, but it maybe makes them less likely.
Taylor plays football stadiums and Ari plays arenas.
Ari could fill a football stadium. She was booked for some crazy amount of SoCal arena dates this year and is coming back for 3 more in December. Not sure why these artists, like Adele a few years back, don't consolidate all of these arena shows into a football stadium show or 2. Why do Staples 8 times in one tour when you can do the Rose Bowl twice?

I don't think it's 1:1 like that.
To do stadiums you need stadium production, so you need to play more than a couple of those shows a year. You need to be able to sell out stadiums in smaller markets, too.
The risk is much higher to try to pack a stadium. She knows she can sell out arenas, and if it sells out fast enough, maybe she adds a show.
If I'm a big Ariana Grande fan, maybe I can go to more than one of her shows. Or maybe there's a couple I couldn't make because of my schedule but there's one that I can. It's more flexible overall.

Cause you make more money from the multiple nights of arena shows vs one stadium gig. Do you want people buying food/alcohol over a period of say 5 hours on 5 different days, or 5 hours just once. Parking, merch etc. Ariana is having the same people go to the show yet again in a couple of months, its not inviting new people to see her. If you take out the repeat attendees, lets see where it would fall with sales and such. They know people in the region will see her more than once, so why not give them what they want. theyre also still riding her emotional wave, which she has been over since july I would gather.

Since when does a 30 minute set a month before the time frame cutoff rule somebody out. You know KROQ X Mas used to be one of the better barometers for future coachella acts til they just started to shat the bed with bookings. You count somebody out if they are playing a show in so cal pretty much from Feb 2020 and on, unless its GV and it would have basically zero impact on ticket sales. ( Hozier in 2015 )

We're really running low on obvious mega headliners. Rihanna and Kanye are arguably the two most likely, which is saying something. Pearl Jam (with an asterisk on whether or not there's something personal preventing them from coming) and Adele (with an asterisk that we have no real idea if she's going to be active) the next most likely?
I'm just hoping this means a loaded undercard. And I suppose I'd rather go into the lineup release with low expectations anyhow.
I think it's fairly low probability we don't get either Travis Scott or Post Malone as a headliner next year. They're both commercially successful, arena touring, constantly in the touring cycle, and not as expensive as other established stars.
Rihanna or Adele Travis Scott or Post Malone Lana Del Rey
Subs: Flume, VW, The Lumineers
Me: stay at home
Just not confident enough in GV banking on an expensive rock band to have a small crowd when they can book someone like Travis for cheaper to get an enormous crowd. Posty supposedly sucked in 2018 but drew enough interest he overflowed the Sahara and Beyonce had to wait for him to get off stage to start.

If they can get Rihanna or Adele that'd be big, particularly if they're exclusive, but otherwise I'm not sure this would sell any better than last year. And the crowds for undercard acts would be sparse even if it did.
