in a normal world that seems like open and shut fraud/entrapment
So ICE is just a federally sanctioned gang at this point? "We got this sweet deal for you, with your student visa ey..." "GOTCHA! (and your money and your legal status) off to jail with you so we can hit quota numbers and keep our immigration racket going" Everyone: But isn't that entrapment? "MEH! Your Congress keeps sending us money, what are ya gonna do about it"

Danielle Stella, a Republican seeking to unseat Rep. Ilhan Omar, Minnesota Democrat, was suspended from Twitter after her account posted Tuesday about lynching the congresswoman.
Ms. Stella’s campaign account on Twitter, @2020mncongress, was punted from the platform after posting at least twice about hanging Ms. Omar, a progressive freshman frequently the target of right-wing attacks.
Each tweet involved an accusation recently amplified by Ms. Omar’s opponents that alleges she shared sensitive information with the Iranian government — a claim the congresswoman has since rejected as “outlandishly absurd.”
“If it is proven @ilhanmn passed sensitive info to Iran, she should be tried for #treason and hanged,” Ms. Stella’s campaign account said in the first tweet.
Ms. Stella’s campaign account subsequently tweeted the link to an article that aggregated her remark, accompanied by a crude depiction of a stick figure hanging from gallows.
The account has since been permanently suspended for repeated violations of Twitter’s rules, a Twitter spokesperson told The Washington Times on Wednesday.
“My suspension for advocating for the enforcement of federal code proves Twitter will always side with and fight to protect terrorists, traitors, pedophiles and rapists,” Ms. Stella told The Times when reached for comment.
Reacting on Twitter late Tuesday to the accusation spread by Ms. Stella and others, Ms. Omar said it was among the “misinformation and conspiracy theories” that have been regular for the congresswoman since taking office.
“The stories keep getting outlandishly absurd, and this latest one is no exception!” Ms. Omar tweeted. “People often ask me why I don’t fight back against them often. It’s a valid question, one my team, family and I struggle with. There is just too much, they are too ridiculous and it feel degrading to respond to such stupidity.”
“Also, who has time fact checking this insanity,” Ms. Omar tweeted.
At least five candidates, including Ms. Stella, are currently seeking the Republican nomination to run in 2020 against Ms. Omar. The state’s GOP primary election is set for Aug. 11.
I don't really see our country going back to civil disagreements and working together after all this. Let's say Bernie wins the nomination and beats Trump and we get Trump out without much resistance from him. Do we think that the GOP base and many of the politicians will decide to start being civil and want to work with the "socialist" to try and undo all the evil corrupt bullshit they've pushed through?

It's really tough to be optimistic at times.
That's one reason organizing is so important right now. We have to beat Trump but we've also got to start taking state and local power away from these people as well. So it's good to be volunteering and getting to know other locals with similar interests. After the primary you can start working on state primaries and/or voter registration drives. Whatever folks think is best locally or if you border a red district/state consider traveling to help out orgs there.
Things likely won't get better unless we all demand it.
Another reason why it's important that we get a progressive in the general who will inspire the public to fight for a better future.

Just to make everyone feel a little better:
I've been making calls for Bernie for an hour every day the last few weeks. I'm on a team that mostly call volunteers to confirm/schedule their shifts and answer any questions, but I also call voters at times. Bernie has a huge network of volunteers and is mobilizing like crazy at the grassroots level. Ive talked to 80 year olds who are getting on the computer dialer and 16 year olds who are organizing at their high school to canvass neighborhoods and set up phone banks. Reading the news makes me feel shitty, but talking to people gives me some optimism.
It's super easy and actually pretty fun and doesn't take a long term commitment: berniesanders.com/call/ and they are trying to build local networks too, so if you go to map.berniesanders.com/ you can find stuff going on nearby your zip code I'm interested to see what happens when votes start being cast. As of last week, Bernie had made 7.7 million calls to voters. He's got a network of normies I don't think anyone but maybe Yang could rival

I have donated to him a couple of times now. I get the texts constantly asking me to do volunteer stuff.

I wish there was an all encompassing "I'm already doing all the things, now leave me alone" opt out.

Because what's gonna happen is that #NoMalarkey is going to start trending or cause a lot of chatter, and Biden's team is going to see this as a good thing because they're just looking at numbers. Not realizing that it's because people think it's so godawful they need to talk about it.
It's like when Chance's album dropped and everyone was talking about how bad "Hot Shower" is. Then the motherfucker dropped it as his next single and tanked his tour.

Part of me is wondering if this is actually brilliant. I mean....think of all the fucked up, weird things that Trump did or said on the campaign trail. And now he is president. So maybe Biden's camp is just like "Let's just keep doing weird and random shit that nobody would expect and most would think would hurt us but for some reason keeps the momentum rolling forward."
He's trying to meme himself into the white house like Trump did.
Yeah, I see a couple ways this could go if the polls stays similar to what they are now(they likely won't). Bernie is sitting in a pretty good spot. The Dems are in danger of not solidifying behind an establishment pick. It's still going to come down to GOTV. Super Tuesday volunteering is ramping up. So much is riding on the South. Hope we don't fuck it up.... ahahahahahaha *vomits blood*
I've posted this video before, but it bears repeating.
The thing that is so terrifying to me about this is that they could have easily fixed this problem and been heroes, but they made a decision not to.
I think they did this to begin to normalize the idea that we do not have clean water rights. We do not have the right to water, the most essential basic need sustaining life. We must instead pay for water, and not in the sense that we pay a public utility bill, but the same way we must pay for food, healthcare, housing, education, elder care, and every other thing that gives us life.
The poor are born indebted to the corporations that control the wealth. If we don't pay up, we die. This is the future that Obama and Buttigieg envision for the United States and the World.
