Well Bernie denied it being true and called it ludicrous. But Warren's camp has declined a comment. So it seems like her staff are pushing this and she's not helping to make it better. All just hours before a debate.
Why is it that fake, fictitious stories tend to hurt political candidates (particularly Democrats), yet actually factual controversies don't touch Trump?

Because his supporters don’t care what is real and what is fake

I said for over a year that I'd back whoever of the two progressives had the best chance of winning when my primary came up. I honestly meant it even as I turned more towards Bernie being the better canidate.
After the last couple days the Democrats can suck my goddamn dick. Fuck all of them

She has no interest in further discussing this? It's her people that floated it. People she fucking told. She doesn't get to have it both ways. This is dirty politics. You don't get to directly slime people and just walk away. I find it extremely hard to believe Bernie flat out said a woman couldn't win. His statement on this seems much more likely to be in keeping with the conversation even she is describing. This feels fabricated. It might be more believable if he didn't try to fucking talk her into running for president in 2016.
All this does is hurt both of them and make it more likely Biden wins. She needs Bernie supporters to win the primary. Her staff has ensured that's not going to happen.
Jesus fuck why are liberals so fucking terrible at everything?

I won't comment on this BUT I will say this one thing but then NO MORE.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was just something Bernie said about there being misogynist voters who may not go for a woman but I really don't see him as the "A woman simply cannot win the presidency/beat Trump" like he's being portrayed as here. Disappointed with the last few days of Warren handling these stories. First he's telling his supporters to talk shit about her (not at all) and now he said a woman couldn't win election and the timing of this is all suspect. Why would this not have come up at all in the past two years?

He said they talked about Trump and the election, so yeah. You would assume the current culture would come up. I mean, we've talked in here about misogyny playing a role in Clinton's loss. It is a real thing. But there's a lot of space between seeing reality for what it is and saying "A woman can't win". or at the very least, there are unique obstacles for a woman running for president. Also, "he disagreed" is very slippery. How did he disagree? What exactly did he say?
Two things on the timing:
1. It seems pretty obvious that it's because she's flailing in the polls and it's a last ditch attempt by her surrogates to try and snag Iowa or NH. She's polling pretty bad in NH and that would a serioualy blow to come in less than 2nd there. So they had the motivation for some well timed oppo drops. When it was just the script story I thought it could be Biden folks or just the media. But it's clearly not at this point.
2. If this was such a super negative thing. Like a flat out misogynistic statement then I think waiting to bring it up until weeks before Iowa is highly cynical.
As I said earlier before this even came out, good work staff:
I used to love Warren but this really is terrible. You could’ve made an argument for me to vote Warren over Bernie maybe 6 months ago, but I’m 100% Bernie now. Terrible political instincts.

We're going to lose, and it's going to get worse than this before we do.
It's almost like the crushing issues of runaway capitalism doctrine and political motions has you swerved.
Find your nearest black or POC friend who's politically aware, and have them stare at you for awhile.
I read him to mean the political attacks and wild smears would get worse. Not necessarily material and sociatal conditions, which were already bad before Trump

^^ This. I stood in the mirror and called myself a self-hating black for five minutes regardless.
We knew that at as the race progressed and Bernie and Warren still remained, eventually they would have to set their sights on each other. But this...is not how I thought it would start.

LOL.
I will say what I'm worried about, is this only round 1 or 2... there's going to be rounds of this bullshit and even the pundits/journalists/investigators on all sides are at full foam at the mouth. I feel like literally.. it's Monday.

They're really trying to turn anything into a big deal that damages Bernie. Crazy how many "bombshells" the past few days they're trying to stick him with

assuming that's what he said, this is exactly what i think he meant. hell similar comments were said in this very thread during the 2016 election re: Clinton. and i imagine many sensible people said "nobody will vote for a black candidate for president" in 2008, or "nobody will vote for a papist" in 1960. it's realpolitik talk between professional politicians, not an expression of ideological or moral preferences on Bernie's part. and as 1960 and 2008 showed, such assertions can be disproved.

THIS.
This is why I can't participate in the feigned outrage, even though, the receipts on Sanders shows him saying a woman should and could be president in the past. Warren basically saying in a loud whisper, we said this shit in a closed meeting and whoever released this shit just made my life harder -- no more comments. I heard this argument multiple times, and it would have even been more valid if we didn't have Dubya for 8 years. The idea that behind closed doors, the idea that this country still has issues with equality of sex and gender (and that they) were discussed, is a reality to talk about. Should I been offended when white people discussed this same argument, about Obama? This is all news cycle spin out, and unfortunately some of my favorite people are contributing to it. Also some of my favorite people, are like shut the fuck up, so it's a toss up until Iowa.

As if we needed another example of Fox News being a live action version of facebook spam, here they are using a sarcastic tweet from a writer of the Washington Examiner (right wing paper) as evidence that the libs are melting down.

This is definitely poorly done but I think it's fine to point out Sanders has a mixed record on foreign policy. If he's going to go after Joe than he should answer for his mistakes there too. It's amazing by DC standards but it's not a crystal clean as some of his supporters like to claim. I'd rather he stay challenged on improving it.
However, it's extremely rare for the media to put things in context and give folks time to dive into the details. Like it would probably be a good thing to hear why he's evovled in his viewpoints. It's partly pandering to his base but I think his ideological background gives him a unique perspective. Especially in comparison to most American politicians.

Just getting in and trying to catch up on the news but it seems both Warren and Bernie camps are trying to deescalate before the debate. Good. In fact, David Sorota was lazer focused on Biden all weekend thoughtout all the drama.
Can't wait for CNN to try and get a slap fight going.
Also just relized I'd pronounced Sorota as "sor-ree-toe" in my head for years now. Never even payed attention to how it's spelt.
I know it's not going to happen, but I almost wish either Warren or Bernie would drop out before the primary. The left-of-Biden ("progressive" doesn't feel like the right word here because Warren isn't really all that progressive) vote is gonna get split between the two of them, and Biden's gonna walk away with this shit. Best case scenario is Warren folds after strong showings for Bernie in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Warren probably hangs on through Super Tuesday. Maybe thru April 28th (a bunch of Northeast states, including NY/PA) if she's stlll hanging around.
