It is advanced alien technology used for propulsion systems by the Greys from the Gamma-2i system. My friend has it in his mini-van, and sometimes we use it to bypass traffic jams and stuff. After his abduction, they let him in on the secret as a sort of gift, for his tissue samples.
A power inverter takes direct current (DC) and converts it to alternating current (AC). Basically it converts a (car) battery to a normal electrical socket. Very useful for charging laptops, etc. The higher wattage rating, the better. They don't run well for long (they get really hot and can shut down until they're cool) at 100% capacity. A 400W is usually good for 250W continuous.
some power inverters come with two different types of power connections. one set can connect directly to a battery (like jumper cables), the other will connect to your cigarette lighter in your car. i wouldn't recommend running an inverter very long without your car beng powered on as it could drain your battery. you need your alternator running to replenish the draw that you're taking from the battery when using the inverter.

We use a Power inverter on our bus. We can switch between the 5000 watt gas generator when we are parked to running off the battery through the inverter while we are giong down the road. You can build a bank of marine deap cycle batteries like the ones used on trolling motors and they will do just fine and can be run all the way dead and no harm will be done but they are heavy. Why not just hook it up to your battery in your car?
Why not go gas power? here is a weedeater margarita blender...
