This is gonna be so lame. I mean even with them doing this in an attempt to cut down on time lost its still going to be over 3 hours. And how the fuck do you remove Original score? I mean the music you hear all night when somebody wins is done by a damn orchestra, lets downplay their importance a bit more why dont we.
It's SUCH an insult. Please don't pass out pizza or have 10 montages. Show us the people who worked their asses off.
Yeah these are the wrong moves. They should focus on just holding onto the audience they already have rather than trying to win back viewers who have already decided they don't care about Hollywood elite giving themselves awards. Film editing is often seen as the precursor to director and picture. Really hard to win Picture without a film editing nomination.

"Licorice Pizza" was way more enjoyable than I imagined, but what the quack was up with that super racist / not funny / completely unnecessary to the plot side plot about the Japanese restaurant owner? That was...horrible. If that wasn't in it, I'd be singing the movie's praises.

I still loved the movie but those scenes totally killed the momentum of the movie every time.

Apparently it was some sort of homage to Maya Rudolph's Japanese step-mother's stories of casual racism in her early time in America (according to the IMDB trivia) but...wow that was a hell of a clumsy attempt to showcase that. You're right on - killed momentum completely.

if there was ever a single scene that killed awards chances...that should be it

My Gf took more offense to the 70's as a whole really. Like how do parents let their kids star a waterbed business or open an arcade to make money. And when were they going to school, unless this was strictly on the weekends? Doesnt seem like it timing wise. School photos are done at the beginning of the year, so its not the summer. But it was still fun looking at all the locations in my backyard. My GF also just wanted a movie with the Haim sisters doing all this in the 70's cause that dynamic shouldve had a lot more time on screen. ( she is one of 3 sisters so she totally lived it )
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
UPCOMING SHOWS 5/14 - Neil Young & Crazy Horse @ Forest Hills 6/8 and maybe 6/9 - Governors Ball 8/17 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ Forest Hills 9/4 - Pearl Jam @ MSG 9/7 - Pearl Jam @ Wells Fargo Center 9/11 - St. Vincent @ Brooklyn Paramount
The other tasty Campion quote from this bit: “He’s not a cowboy, he’s an actor.”
I’ve typically enjoyed Sam Elliott, but he deserves this roasting so hard.
She totally threw him off the damn cliff when she mentioned Sergio Leone and his westerns being filmed in Spain. Is Sam Elliot gonna say Clint Eastwood acted in a bunch of shitty western movies cause they werent filmed in Texas?

Even if you can’t catch “Worst Person in the World”, you should listen to the playlists people are making (in lieu of an accessible soundtrack). Huge variety in song choices but fucking QUALITY stuff

watch it anyway, a good HD file is out there
Catch it in a theater if you can., but *watch this movie*

I'm also totally not doing a fan project of my own that keeps me up until 2 in the morning every night.

Lincoln was the last film I really liked of his and that was about 10 years ago. So yeah, his recent ones haven't been great imo. Still don't understand the Spielberg hate tho.

Not so much a hate, but an annoyance by his unwillingness to accept streaming as a legitimate medium to host prestige film. A few years ago he was strongly against letting streaming films compete for the same awards as theatrical release films, citing them as "made-for-tv movies".

That's fair. There's definitely no reason to prevent those films from being nominated. But I have to say, I really enjoy theatrical movie releases and the more streaming takes over, the more films are going to bypass theaters which is a shame imo. Regardless, I don't West Side Story should or will win picture/director this year.
Also, I'm pulling for CODA. Probably my favorite of the Oscar nominated films.
