It does make me feel a bit better seeing Remy's grandma on Twitter saying how well he's doing
Very uncomfortable watch at times during the finale (in a good way I think?), respect to Nathan for leaning into it instead of leaving the messier aspects off-screen

I re-watched the first episode and I can't believe how much the show dramatically changed over the course of six episodes. Also can't believe how many highlights there are. Every episode escalated so quickly and unexpectedly that I forgot so many genius gags like Thomas working the ambulance at the end of episode 3.
i think a lot about the way we objectify others. not just in the sexual sense we commonly think of when we hear the word objectification, but the way we "flatten" other people into objects in our own stories, instead of thinking of them as a whole person living their own story.
there was a line in the voiceover at the end of I think episode 4, when he is on the playground:
"It's easy to assume that others think the worst of you, but when you assume what others think maybe all you're doing is turning them into a character that only exists in your mind."
i just... i mean wow. i know this show is shocking and wild and hilarious, but there is some other shit happening too.
^^^also that post above was post 20,489. the first show heavily talked about in inforoo is The Wire, which premiered 20 years ago, and 489 is a term used to reference the head of the Triad, aka the Chinese Mafia, also referred to as the head of the Dragon, and the one hour drama we are talking about the most today is House of the Dragon. it's a miracle i survived the 100mph crash in my scion.
Yeah the first episode especially was, for me, mainly about the way we build things up in our head and other people probably don't care as much as we think they're going to, or how we tell ourselves stories about people in our lives. The convoluted production and set were like a metaphor for Kor's anxiety about a secret that ultimately was mostly unimportant to Tricia. It felt like a physical manifestation of his inner world/mind-prison like in the Cell or Inception.

great observation. in AA we have this amends process, where we sit down with people we have harmed to try and make it right (so long as doing so doesn't further harm them or others). i've found that 98% of the time we build up shit in our heads to be way bigger than we think it is. most of the time people are just happy to get an apology or maybe don't even know what the hell we are talking about.
Earlier tonight in a group chat with a bunch of my childhood friends The Rehearsal came up, one friend hadn't seen it and started watching it tonight, his texts have been great.

Somewhat tangential but I feel like if you enjoyed The Rehearsal you might also get a kick out of Paul T Goldman. 3 eps up now on Peacock and the fourth is out tomorrow!

funny little acceptance speech. it felt natural but it's hard not to watch fielder now and wonder if he rehearsed for this, and if so will the details of the rehearsal be in season 2.
