We all make all these year-end lists of the best x and y of the year, but I never see people talk about older songs and albums they discovered (or rediscovered) that had a real major impact on their year.
So I'm asking you all: what are the best bits of music that were released before 2022 that you just couldn't get enough of?

I dug even deeper into my rediscovery of nu-metal and other various buttrock. It felt like a guilty pleasure at first but now I'm just like "actually that first Three Days Grace album is pretty special and Korn is one of the 5 most important acts of the 90s"
One of the podcasts I frequent, End on End, drops an episode every few weeks on 80’s/90’s DC Hardcore and Punk. Before I listen, I revisit the album in question. I’ll listen after, too.

Numero Group has a wealth of playlists with deep cuts from a variety of genres, but IMO they do a particularly good job pulling up lesser known disco/soul/groove deep cuts.

Yeah I have a lot of nu metal on my most listened to playlists this year, namely deftones, Korn, and Incubus, and those algorithms have been making moves on the sponsored articles and content on my newsfeeds as well. Also that Woodstock 99 doc and seeing Korn just crush it made me want to go back.
Finally gave Chelsea Wolfe a listen this year and really liked a lot of her stuff. As far as individual albums I listened to a lot, Yola's "Walk Through Fire", Joshua James "Forever in Life,for Now" and all of Wild Pink's old stuff.

Kylie was my top played artist this year at more than double my next played artist according to last.fm. Played a lot of Underworld, Shania Twain, Enya, Madonna as well. Also went through a mini Depeche Mode thing recently too.
This year I also listened to a lot of trance as well. I was familiar with it and liked it when I was a kid through hearing it from my parents or whatever. I dug into it a lot throughout the year and think it's really fun and underappreciated. Also put in some time listening to older popular country as well.
