Now that Roo '23 is over, if you went VIP this year do you think paying $600 more than GA was worth it?
In the past you got, VIP tollbooth, the VIP camping with showers, bar in VIP campground, AC bathrooms and you were a few steps away from Centeroo. In Centeroo you had a lounge and VIP seating for some stages, which isn't all that great but it is there. Plus some merch.
This year for the added expense you got, the mech, VIP entrance to Centeroo, a slightly better VIP lounge and the same old VIP seating. Granted being able hit the lounge to cool down here and there was great but when you think of how much less you are getting for the price, it kind of bums me out. Though I have to admit, I did get good use of my green semi transparent fanny pack.
No, the only VIP viewing areas are the What Hill and Which Pit.
Technically you could watch a That set from the patio of the VIP lounge, which was cool for chilling, but if you really care about an act you'll want to be closer imo. Same for the What Hill really, nice for relaxing but even for a packed set you're better off going bee side and getting close for better sound.
I've been to Roo 7 times now. twice in GA (camping), twice in handicap (once camping, once RV), 3 times in VIP (twice RV, once camping). The last 3 before this year were VIP and I also had VIP tickets for 2021 before that year was cancelled.
I would have done VIP again this year but the changes ruined VIP. For us, 90% of VIP value was in the camping arrangement. The in park benefits are worth something but certainly not $600. I'm sure Bonnaroo knew they would lose revenue on VIP passes when they made the changes but figured that they would make it back with the increased camping fees for the old VIP grounds being available to sell to the broader festival crowd....with Live Nation everything is going to be about optimizing revenue.
We went open GA camping this year and ended up in POD 11 (2 miles out), despite getting there at 8 on Thurs Morning. I doubt we will go back unless they change VIP back to include premium camping or we can go RV.
I understand why they made the changes but, for our group, it was a very bad change.

We did GA+ and it was an absolute joke and a waste of money. I'm embarrassed that I advocated for my group to go that route but thankfully no one has given me crap about it. The 'air-conditioned' bathrooms in the GA+ lounge had power intermittently and were hotter than the outside. We misread the details so we though that there would be air-conditioned seating but there was not, just some shaded seating, which wasn't hard to find in GA anyway. The bar prices were $1 cheaper and we got free cans of Coke or Fanta whenever we wanted. There was a sort of elevated viewing area for the Other, which was kinda cool but it was still far away.
I was looking forward to it for the dedicated entry lane to Centeroo but there was never that much longer of a wait to go through the regular GA line at the tower entrance. Plus they were actually stricter in security in the GA+ line than the regular GA. There was a lady there Friday and Saturday night straight power trippin. GA+ was definitely not worth the extra $220. It does not sound like VIP is worth the extra $600 either. Platinum looks awesome of course but can't afford that. Gotta buy a lotto ticket this week.
We did an RV in 08, accessible 09, 10, and 11, VIP in 15 and 16, and GA every other year and I can't go back. We did power RV this year and it was great. I can't imagine doing anything besides RV, groop, or Area 931 for the guaranteed good camping spot. We drove through 931 on the way out and it looked awesome. Anyone with some feedback on what that was like?
I would definitely consider the "enhanced" camping options (area 931 or maybe Moon Colony) but I think those options sold out prior to the lineup being announced this year (definitely before we bought our tickets).....there's no way that I'm committing to Bonnaroo without first seeing the lineup.

I did Moon Colony in tandem with VIP.
Using the VIP lounge as a shortcut from the entry to the majority of centeroo was nice. The bathrooms in the VIP lounge were decent too. The Which stage VIP pit which is nothing new is awesome, and the VIP hill is great to chill for a casual big stage set.
I will say more than once having access to the VIP entrance was nice because I had seen massive lines and a more thorough search going on for GA, meanwhile there was minimal searching and almost no wait for VIP. There were also times where they were funneling GA lines into the VIP entrance to thin those lines out a bit, causing an extended wait for the VIP line.
Not having dedicated entry from Moon Colony really sucked. The fencing negated the closeness a bit. If I could have went from the Giddy up right into the VIP Hill that would be a worthy VIP perk.
Allowing VIP to utilize those basically empty Platinum viewing pits at the smaller stages would make all the sense in the world.
More than likely, unless there are those types of changes to the VIP tier, I'm just going to secure Moon Colony camping with a GA ticket. I could give a fuck about a lanyard tbh.
